Pingbacks and Trackbacks

What do you guys think about pingbacks and trackbacks? Do you turn them off on your wordpress sites or do you think some of them can provide value?

    I basically turn off it on my blog.

    I load them up and have a massive list.

    When I create a post on my blog, I get indexed within minutes. (I'd say within seconds, but don't want to seem overly confident).

    PS: My site has been around for many years, maybe that plays a factor, but I think instantly pinging definitely expedites search engine placement.

      But that's not a pingback is.

      A pingback and trackback are notifications of links from other sites to your site.

      Personally I don't allow them, but they are definitely useful to keep track of.

        Trackbacks and pingbacks are notifications of links back to your site in form of a comment on your blog...so basically by allowing trackbacks you are creating a reciprocal link.. which is probably not a good idea.
