Has Anyone worked in Marketing for Amazon?

I've been invited to an in-person interview by Amazon Prime as a Sr. Marketing Manager in Seattle. I've been reading some articles and found some pretty horrific takes on their company culture and work environment.

Has anyone been through the experience or know if media talk is different from what's actually going on in the organization?

I strongly recommend you read The Everything Store by Brad Stone, before you go.

I also recommend it to anyone doing business with Amazon at it clearly sets out their underlying business principles.

    Good luck.

      Nope.

Most of the answers you will get are people trying to sell you WSO's on passive income from kindle.

Amazon's culture is 'purposeful Darwinism,' investigation finds - Aug. 15, 2015

I've read some of the complaints about working at Amazon at the corporate level - but what they describe isn't much different than corporate level jobs were a few years ago.

It's no harder than lawyers on the bottom rung of a big firm or doctors serving internships...it's rough to get on top and stay there. Hours can be brutal and stress levels high.

Until costs skyrocketed in the 90's, businesses like AT&T used to routinely transfer management employees from one part of the country to another on just a month or two notice. Long hours and high pressure were part of the corporate package.

I don't think any company pushing as hard and growing as fast as Amazon is a good workplace for someone wanting a 9-5 job or a great 'work-life balance'. I think it's a great opportunity for highly motivated and competitive people. I doubt anyone like Bezos (or Steve Jobs) is easy to work for.

Go to the interview - ask questions - if the job is offered make a decision based on what you want your life/career to be.

I haven't had the pleasure, though conducted some research. What I found is that the employees frequently break down crying.

Here's what one employee had to say: “Nearly every person I worked with, I saw cry at their desk.”, according to a past Amazon employee. (Paraphrased, source cited below).

What could possibly go wrong? Maybe they were tears of joy?

    Muahahaha.

Seems Mr. Bezos need to be more human... he should be ..I am a bit shocked ..not that I have not faced similar situations but the extent of the issue described was quite overwhelming ..

Capitalism needs some checks and balances also..
