Best setup for domain name & web hosting?

For domains i would say no one is better than namecheap , Hosting i use servers from wired tree, Liquid Web and beyond hosting ..and all are great

Yep, Namecheap for domains. I get all mine there.

For hosting I am using HawkHost and their service is top notch. Namecheap also offers good hosting.

Personally I would buy the domain from Godaddy.com and buy the hosting from hostgator.com and link them up.

If you search in google for coupons, you can find domain names from godaddy for even $1.

Bluehost, Hostgator and 50 more are all owned by EIG now. There is real testing showing Hostgator support average takes 60 hours to response, Bluehost not much better. EIG is famous for keep buying famous brand hosting then decrease any cost to maximum profit, you can google it or search post over here.

I've used Hostgator for about 8 years or so and have not really had many problems with them. I remember raising support tickets several years ago which were attended to quickly within 8 hours. However, earlier this year I raised a support ticket which went unanswered for 3 days at which point I'd found the solution to the problem myself.

actually hostgator gives good support. I never actually submit a ticket if I face any problems. I usually prefer immediate help so I will go straight to the LIVE chat. That way I can get my problem solved asap.

When picking a hosting platform, always check that they have LIVE chat and the a good support platform.

I'm sure this thread will go on and on with recommendations. I would not recommend Godaddy for IM for several reasons but some others seem to like them.

I have one strong recommendation:

Do not register your domain at the same place where you purchase hosting. It may be "easier" but it's not the smart way to go.

If you are starting out any host that has good uptime and customer service will work for you.

Not sure I understand how you KNOW that the testing you refer to is "real", but...

MY TESTING shows that to circumvent any such problems with Hostgator, you should use their chat facility for support. My problems have been few and have ALL been resolved in minutes - no exceptions! I don't know about you, but when I have problems on my websites, I want them resolved NOW.

For domain registration I use either NameCheap or GoDaddy, depending on whether or not I can get a real good coupon for GoDaddy.

NameCheap gives you a free year of their "WhoisGuard" for every new domain your purchase. It's basically their version of domain privacy, it protects your info from people who would try to get your info from the Whois on the domain. If that protection is important to you, NameCheap is usually the better deal, because unless you can get a coupon on GoDaddy, it will be more for the first year of domain registration plus domain privacy with GoDaddy because they charge around $8 for just the domain privacy feature.

Now for hosting, there are so many cheap options. I have used iPage, Bluehost, NameCheap, and InMotion, all with their shared hosting.

InMotion has SSD shared hosting, which does make a difference on site speed. I don't normally tell people to host and register with the same company, but I have actually had good luck with NameCheap hosting, they have great pricing in the shared hosting for the first year, and you can usually find 20 percent off coupons so you can get some pretty cheap hosting for the first year. The price goes up after the first year, but I've been generally pleased with their service.

iPage was my first host and has become crappy, don't use them anymore.

BlueHost is ok, but I find that even with their "unlimited" shared hosting, they don't limit how much storage you use, but the do limit how many files you store, so if you do a lot of wordpress installs on small niche sites, which I do, you will actually run into storage cap issues. And Bluehost has become less reliable since I first started with them.

So my 2 combos to recommend to you would be either:

NameCheap for both the hosting and registration

OR

NameCheap to register and InMotion to host.

For domain name you can find $1 coupons easily for GoDaddy.com and for cheap VPS I would recommend CloudAtCost, no monthly subscription, 1 price for a lifetime VPS and they have 50% coupons for servers. I currently have 2 sites on dedicated VPS and I highly recommend them.

I use either Godaddy or Namecheap for domains. Godaddy has some pretty cool $1 and $2 coupons for the fist year, but they charge a substantially higher amount (around $15) for .com domains from the second year, where as Namecheap sticks to $10.

So, you can buy your domain at Godaddy and maybe transfer it to Namecheap on the second year.

For hosting, I've stuck with Hostgator, and it's worked well for me so far. I know there are some complaints about them, but personally I've not experienced any problems that were dire enough that I had to change hosting.

They also have an excellent support team, especially their live chat support. The waiting time is around 30 minutes, but you get a support person online, they solve your problems pretty quick.

Hostgator's pricing is also pretty cheap for the service they offer.

The combination I use is Hostgator for hosting and Netfirms for the domain name. I never had any issues with either and can't say enough positive things about Hostgator's Tech support, when I was new at IMing they went above and beyond helping me.

You can typically find discount codes for both if you do a quick Google search.

Personally I would say if you have an Indian website and wants the server located in India, I would prefer Hosting Raja. As they provide a good service especially in India.

PS. These are so cheap, it doesn't hurt to keep a few in reserve or as storage, backups too. When trouble hits, a simple redirect can often take your customer or prospect to identical content. OF COURSE, it depends on what you want to do too.

I think, EIG group has earned a lot and they now don't care about the costumers, i served as support there few years, and i know whats inside, i would recommend BlueAngelHost as the team is too good, fast on tickets, free migration, free basic management no setup fee hidden charges etc, and cheap in prices, you will be surprised when you join the host, they offer free domain (basically using namecheap API) for all hosting plans, you wont be disappointed, i can guarantee a quality service

For domain name i would suggest godaddy. You can get coupon codes at domainpromocodes

For web hosting avoid hosting companies from EIG group. I would suggest StableHost or LiquidWeb. Both are reliable web hosting providers.
