I can't Believe How Much Crap I found

Hi,

Every so often I like to find out what sites have published some of my articles.

This usually also requires me to spend an hour or two contacting sites and asking them to reinstate links that they have removed. (not all of them) only the more blatantly cheeky ones.

Anyway, today I was doing that and was faced with the biggest amount of crap websites that had all or part of my and other people's articles with continue links to nothing to do with the article and no credit to the authors. Another popular one was just the titles of articles with no content or only a few lines with no links to anything else, just a lot of crap really.

Many web owners also seem to think it is fine to put their own links early on in the article to elsewhere on their site so readers don't get to the end and click on the author's link, the idea of giving the author credit brings shivers to them!.

I don't know what some website owners are playing at, but there is no value at all in these websites to anyone(most of the ones I saw were adsense sites) and have misleading links throughout the whole site and complete disregard for copyright laws and probably other laws too.

I suppose it just infuriates me that these people make any income at all by using other peoples work, *******ising it and providing no or little value to visitors.

Apologies for the rant but just can't believe what I found.

Spend those 2 hours wisely and put up a few backlinks to your articles rather than spending time contacting people asking them to replace the links.

Also those 2 hours could be spent writing more articles.

I've found you should ingore the people whom don't keep your resource box, unless they are scraping everything you own.

I totally agree. But somehow I feel better if I just send out a few messages to those people who think they can get away with anything and it's only now and again I feel this . Then I can move on.

If they have complete disregard for your links, they probably won't care even if you do contact them...some may take them down or put your link up, but I also agree you're wasting your time.

If you absolutely feel like you need to rectify the situation, maybe this will help:

      Thanks for the link.

I know it seems that I'm wasting my time, but it's because nobody ever does anythng about plagiarism that people get away with it. I totally understand why marketers wouldn't want to waste their valuable time but personally, just to know that I am doing something that doesn't really take that much out of my time, gives me the feeling that I'm making even just a minute difference.

The world of the internet is not really policed very well, lets face it and it's getting to the point where people are getting away with too much.

But I know that the problem is too vast to curb so I suppose there will always be plagiarism and sh*te websites of no value, for the foreseable future.

Your complaint is a common one here, Yves. The response you will most often get is don't waste you time trying to do anything about it. It embarrasses me sometimes to see the sites my articles end up on. Infuriates me, too. I found one website that said something like "these articles are all copyright free, you can do anything you want to with them." The domain was registered to someone in China. I figured I would never get anywhere contacting them.

If you gotta get it off your chest, tell them you've got your eye on them.

Then continue you with articles or work on your Twitter campaign.
