Starting a Article Directory: Where to Go?

Hi guys,

This is going to be my August project: start a new article directory for portuguese writer/webmasters.

This is what i saw so far:

As you may guess i need testimonials on best practices, solid script and how to's.

Hope some Warriors can shed some light here.

    Article friendly is another one to add to your list. Article Friendly | Article Directory Script

    I am also going to begin another article directory and this is what I will use. They have an active forum as well.

    Article dashboard is not being updated anymore from what I understand.

      Read some of the posts over at the AF forum Article Friendly article publishing script Support Forum and that should give you a good idea of what people are doing and how.

      Personally I would pick a niche directory, and get some re-written plr just to get some content to it and started.

      (People don't seem to add their articles as much if there are not already articles there).

      Then with AF there are rss feeds created automatically for each article. Submit the feeds to build backlinks.

      You can do other promotion methods like turning your articles into video, and then link back to your directory as well for immediate traffic and backlinks.

      The main thing is people won't be eager to submit unless they see an active directory with lots of traffic or one that will give them high rankings.

      A niche directory can be easier to rank for and get you submissions even if you are not as popular because you are targeted.
