Question about a travel blog

Hey guys

I am thinking of starting a travel blog, however, I have one major issue that is bugging me.

I am probably likely to have the word traveller in my domain. However, I realise there is a difference between how English and American spell it.

English - TraveLLer
American - TraveLer

My blog is likely to be geared mainly towards English people, however, the majority of travel blogs I have read spell it with just the one L.

Thoughts/suggestions?

Thanks
GP

Thanks Al - I was thinking more for the on site graphics that it would have to ensure consistency.

Maddyy - I was thinking of the proper English way with 2 Ls

If you're aiming at a UK audience, use the UK spelling. Most use the American spelling because they are aiming at primarily US audiences.

For the domain, follow AG's advice and redirect the US spelling to the UK one, just to be consistent.

Decide who the majority of your audience will be and use that spelling for your graphics. I don't think how it's spelt in a domain name will matter too much as most people simply click a link and as agmccall says you could get both versions anyway.

you can also try to rank for both spellings so your website would come up regardless

    Thanks for responding all.

I like the idea of ranking for both spellings to capture both. Maybe I may do an article within explaining why I went with the spelling I did, that may help to capture the other spelling readers.

    Thanks

I would not worry to much about it. The Google algorithm would see both words as the same. If you are using wordpress on your site, it will come up as a spelling error, when using the British version (Trevelling, or Traveller)
Working in the travel blog industry I see this constantly, originally I always followed the wordpress advice and changed the spelling to one L , even though most of my clients/advertisers were either British or Australian companies. Now I leave it up to the writer, and the client, and do not bother to change it, upon hosting it on the blog.
And also the industry is so huge (number one industry on the net excluding Porn) that the spelling in the domain names will go unnoticed by the search engines..

Well that would be a different kind of thing if we see most of the times. Offering a traveling blog is quite appreciable and those who are quite much into all this would get the maximum in it.

Use keyword planner and check popularity with different spelling.
