I totally forgot about this resource! Free Publicity - Connecting Reporters and News Sources - Help a Reporter Out

It's free, and it works. I once got a nice little mention from interacting with this site, so you might want to give it a try as well.

I've heard it said . . . "There is no such thing as bad publicity!"

The best publicity, IMO, is that of publicity in front of your targeted audience. Most niche sites would gain very little from publicity in front of a broad and general audience simply because the chances of your perfect customer seeing your specialized marketing piece are pretty remote.

But you might benefit from branding in the broader market as well as possible backlinks from a popular site.

The site segments requests by interest, so there's a very significant chance that a response will appear in front of the right audience. For instance, I was once interviewed for a news story about writing. And the story ended up in an online magazine for writers.
