How the upcoming election will impact your business...

by andrewtkenyon 17 replies
As many may not realize this election will directly and indirectly effect your business. Directly taxes will either force you to hand over a bit more and for a higher percentage of people will give you tax breaks.

Indirectly, eveyone heres business is effected by US economy whether you live here or not. Simply because the fact the US is a source for sales and marketing in other countries. And economic despair in the US can mean problems in your business i.e. no one will have excess money to spend on online products.

With that being said I would like to here some peoples political views if any and who they be routing for this election?

Obama 08 all the way for me

Presidential elections, in and of themselves could help to boost the overall economy, short term.

But too mush faith is put into the office of the president, and the power of any one president to change our day-to-day lives.

Clearly the state of the economy will effect every ones business to some extent, and with the condition of the U.S. and global economy being what it is today, it will take much more than a new president to turn the tide.

Well as far as i know.

ECONOMY: If US sneezes than all over the world market gets cold and flu.

But recently US govt had done a good job by taking over Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae as as to save the local and world economy for further turmoil.

Guess OBAMA will implement some good policies which will benifitted not only to the Americans but also to the whole world.

Andrew, those 2 comments contradict each other. You're running a business and want higher taxes and more regulation?

I will be in the upper tax range but I could care less. The reason I say go for Obama is because I truly care about other people. Alot of my friends and family are in despair because of the recession. I've been there before and I came from nothing so I really feel for these people. I could care less about paying a couple percent more on taxes, I would rather have the US a more a stable which in return will make me more money,

Thats why I'm going for Obama. LOL even though I'm not even old enough to vote. But still I have motivated alot of people to though.

Historically, when taxes go up, charitable giving goes down. And, given the penchant of government (i.e., Congress) to spend foolishly, higher taxes means fewer people will get the help they need.

I am sorry, but whoever the president ends up being does not have such a dramatic effect on the economy. Just because the economy was good when Clinton was president doesn't mean another democrat will make the economy good. Also, the bad economy doesn't have a lot to do with Bush. Granted, the war doesn't help but the economy has a natural up and down movement to it and this has happened ever since we were a nation. You can go and look at graphs of the economy and see these up and down trends. This has very little to do with the president. Too many people think that one man can make or break America's economy.

Are you referring to the recession we are NOT in right now? Or some other country's recession?

Oh really? That's probably not the smartest thing to say on a forum where a lot of Americans contribute. What country are you from?

    Obama...LOL

Look at what he has done for IL...

But recently US govt had done a good job by taking over Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae as as to save the local and world economy for further turmoil.
Good job? Not even close. It will hurt the tax payers and further hurt the economy in the long run. How can the expect to repay it when loans are defaulting? Think about it... If they made a loan for $400k, it gets defaulted and then sells for $250-300k (the actual value), the lose $100k. A lot of loans are like this. Its a great time for buyers as you can get deals everywhere. Not to mention the US has more house available then people.

BTW: It was a bailout not a take over. The gave them a $250b (maybe 200b) loan.

I love threads like this. Does anyone doubt that the Reagan years were great economically? How about during Clinton's reign (hint: Republican Congress)? Does anyone remember the "Contract with America"? I like Obama. Unfortunately, he has no experience and unfortunately, his programs of income re-distribution and bigger government will affect guess who? Hint: All of us! The Democrats had 8 years of people dissatisfied with a Republican in the White House and they had a chance to make history. They treated Hillary Clinton with such disrespect because she is a woman. If they wanted to win, they should have made her VP and not chosen a Washington insider. They blew their moment in history. They allowed the Republicans to get a woman in as VP who set this race on fire!
