Does Anyone Use Clearwire as a Broadband Provider?

I have checked on it several times but I don't believe Clearwire is available here. It appears to be similar to Alltel's wireless internet but at a much lower price. I tried alltel's for a bit, but the store wasn't able to provide me with the proper wireless router and the usb dongle had to be plugged directly into my computer. That managed to blow out a couple of USB ports in my mother board. I wound up taking the system back since the local dealer seemed to be unable to make anything right.

I don't think the speed of it ever came up to where it should be because my motherboard couldn't supply enough power through the usb ports. If the dealer had sold me the router with it, I think I would have been fine.

Set up is easy either with the router or without it. You plug the dongle into a usb port and install the software and off you go. If you have the router you plug the dongle into that. There is no need for a professional installer.

Alltel wanted $69 a month plus about $300 for router and dongle. One thing to watch with these services is a "fair use" policy. This will limit the amount of upload/download you can do in a month. Alltel has no such cap and that is why I chose them.

I have clearwire. Before signing up I would definitely check to see what your signal strength is. I only get two bars at my home. Which is fine, but it could definitely be faster.
