How Much Is Too Much?

You can't argue with success, and Michael Jones' Clickbank Code is a whale of a successful product. Michael's got some great sales copy on his pitch page (which is actually an opt-in page) as well as top-of-the-line graphics. And--he's made a ton of money with the product.

So I was actually going to buy the product the other night just out of curiosity. But I see that there is no order button on his front page, just an opt-in box to get a free video. When you opt-in you get a full blown sales page with the promised video.

Then, when you click on the order button, you go to a page where you must input your name and email, and then choose a user name and password in order to continue with the ordering process.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like a lot of work just for the privilege of getting to an order processing page--and, I don't even know if doing that would have got me to the processing page. I clicked out at that point.

Now hey, I can't argue with success! And Micheal's got on huge winner on his hands--but I just wonder how many hoops the average visitor to a site is willing to jump through to order a product.

Just my thoughts.

He's obviously tested everything, and this must be working best. His aim might be to get people into a compliant state by getting lots of "yes" answers and lots of mini positive actions taken...

Having said all that, I'd not put this many hoops in front of someone who might be trying to buy my product.
