Post #500 -Giving back--My tip on a popular warrior topic.

Hi warriors,

I am now at my 500th post here, and I thought I would share some tips with the community.

They may be simple and basic to most, but I'm not a guru, and all I do are simple and basic things that work and scale them up.

My tip is about backlinks from forums.

I see lots of people talking about finding forums etc and creating a profile to get backlinks so I'll give one of my methods for free.

Here is how I get backlinks from forums.

Type in:

"your niche forum + introduce yourself"
"your niche discussion + introduce yourself"
"your niche forum + tell us who you are"

etc...with variations of keywords that people would use for the introductions section of a forum.

You should find countless forums in any niche to get backlinks from for free that are relevant to your site.

When you get there, instead of just creating a spammy profile and dropping links create a sig and introduce yourself.

* Don't create a new thread though, reply to someone elses introduction.

eg...look for someone in your area and post something like "hey I'm from this area also".

Also have a look around the forum.

See what they owner is doing to monetize it and think of a way you can help them.

Are they using adsense?

If they are using adsense, then consider what types of keywords the forum owner is wanting to rank for and include them naturally in your post.

This way you are giving them something they want, which are keywords that may lead someone to their site, and say something that edifies the site.

So if the site is about dog grooming your introduction post would be like this....

Hi, I am from the ____ area also. I found this forum while looking for information on (keyword= dog grooming). This site has lots of good dog grooming information here. My dog is a beagle and (has this problem/quality). Nice to meet everyone.

Now a post like this is low key, it provides some of the main keywords for that niche, may help bring more people to that site, and edifies the site.

Your comments and links will stick if the site owner is getting some benefit also.

Like I said, pretty basic, but hopefully I'll have something even better for you by post 1,000.

Aaron

There is a site that lists a load of forums and then you just simply type in your keyphrase and get going.

Honestly can't remember its name at the moment but it sounds much quicker than this method.

Im sure someone will pipe up soon enough.

Plus use firefox or roboform to make the registration to these forums alot quicker

      Tom,

I think you may be referring to big-boards. Also, I think the reason for Aaron's method is to narrow down the forums to those that encourage new users to introduce themselves...they even have a section just for that. If this is the point, then Aaron's method would actually be quicker.

Happens a lot around here, Aaron...the truly valuable threads sometimes hardly see the light of day while controversial threads with lots of bickering hang around the first page for what seems like ages. Chalk it up to human nature.

FWIW - I think your backlinking method is a superb idea and I plan to begin using it right away...Thanks, Aaron!

I thought a topic showing people how to find backlinks and get there backlinks on forums to actually stick would be useful considering this is the big topic in the wso section and main forum.

I'm not complaining that people didn't say thanks.

I created this thread as a way of saying thanks to the forum, not to recive thanks.

I feel embarrassed that I just gave a gift no one wants as my way of saying thank you for all I have recived at this forum.

This info may be basic to this forum, but for me simple methods and sticking to the basics are what works and I really intended for this to be a good gift.

This method does work for backlinks if you will try it out. Simple methods that are scalable may be slow and tedious, but fast and easy isn't always the ticket.

      Aww

If I were you, I wouldn't infer that the post was under-appreciated just because no-one replied. There are too many factors that determine "post popularity", and I wouldn't be too hasty! Perhaps most people just skimmed over it and made a mental note to come back to it, and not everyone who forgets to "hit the thanks button" is being ungrateful - surely many of them actually found it sound advice and moved on - which means you've served your intention of wanting to be useful!

So give it some time, and I'm sure everyone's glad at your willingness to share. It's exactly these posts that come up during my searches for information and allow me to postpone that next investment in an ebook (don't get me wrong, I do like information that I pay for, but when I can't afford it, information spread out like this becomes priceless!).

Good advice and thanks for posting. Congratulations on the 500!

      Cheers,
      Avani
