The power of the WF: pulse and idea factory

I am one of those who come here when is seeking information, and then vanishes for a couple of months. But every time I come something great happens.

A week and a half ago I got an email from the forum. It was promoting a product by Bill Platt about coloring books for adults. It called my eye because two days before I had received an email from Tiffany Dow promoting a plr in the same niche.

I was looking for something to do, as the book I'm writing was getting complicated, which means I needed air.

So I came here, breathed in the marketing energy, look at the products being sold, the stats, and decided to give it a try.

In one week I drew 20 pics, 10 mandalas, 10 nature inspired images.

Printed them, borrowed some pencils from my kids and painted two, those are my cover and inner images.

Scanned them, made the cover and put together the book. That was the only thing that took a bit more, like one day and a half, because big images and links in kindle don't get together that easily. Hint for those who want to do it: Kindle Kid's book creator does the trick, after some tweaking.

Total investment: about 2 bucks.

Looked into my competition, created my sales page using ideas from the best and trying to overcome their shortcuts. Collected my categories, and keywords, and put it out there.

This was yesterday. It went live in under three hours.

I bought two copies, one for me, one to gift to the most skeptical reviewer in the niche to have his expert opinion. The guy is awesome.

Total investment: 4 bucks.

Before starting promoting, before anything, today I looked at my stats, and found 3 books sold. So it is already moving on its own.

Thanks WF. Best idea factory ever.

Good for you, Sandra. Nice ROI !!

Simple as simple can be , but it is surprising how many people fail to even take this kind of minimal Action.

Unfortunately, many people here are still looking for that button to push. And there ain't no button

Once again thank you for sharing your success Story , Sandra

      Thanks Robert

With regards of people not taking action, I think there is a matter of having tools to meet opportunities half way. I could do this in one week because I have done most of the chores involved before.

I can do covers with my eyes closed.
I can format books with my eyes closed.
I have already published books that sell.
I have a server where to upload stuff if necessary.
I have a system to promote the book already in place (even when I didn't start the campaign yet)

I only needed to learn two things for this project: to draw, and to make kindle books with big images. Testing if the drawings were good enough was the deciding point. That took one day. The tech part, I knew I could pull it off somehow, because I have done it in the past.

So... I think that when people get stuck is because they can't visualize the chores needed clearly (lack of information), or some of the chores are overwhelming for whatever reason, or there are resources missing.

One time I was in a seminar and they gave a great tip. One guy got up, went outside and made one phone call to his VA. Three hours later he had made 400 bucks from that change. He did it because he could. He had the system in place to do it. Me? I just took notes.

First off, thanks for coming back and thanking those who helped you. Almost nobody does what you just did.

Plus, you've just destroyed the myth many people still have that it takes huge amounts of money, time and effort to make money online.

You've just proved to yourself how you can make money even with ...
    • A Little idea.
    • A Little amount of money.
    and
    • A Little effort. (compared to other methods).

"If" the niche idea is ...

    • Targeted (aimed at the right need).
    • Focused on a tiny untapped market.
    -and-
    • Solves a untapped need no one else is filling or filling as well.
Now that you know it's workable, how will scale it up ... or will you? This is where the real work begins or the opportunities are lost.

      Thanks for the kudos.

You are right about niches. It works.

Scale up? I am strong in a related niche, so this is already part of something bigger. I might make more of these books, if that's the question. They are fun.

I'm thinking on translating (easiest translation ever, the book has 500 words), and maybe using some of the designs for t-shirts. That would be interesting.

Great work Sandra. I wonder why you did not make a print/createspace version of your book?

It is only 30 pages long. Even leaving the back of the pages clean to avoid bleeding, it is just too short to compete with the printed books. If I make at least one more, with 40 images, I will do it.
