Hi,

I've been thinking of a business website idea from soo long, and after revising my idea many times, i think now i got a clear plan on what features it should have and how the look needs to be, and how to do marketing for it.

Since i am a marketer, i don't have coding skills at all. Do you think most successful websites were coded by the founder itself? Or are there any successful websites which were coded by other companies? If so,

Where can i find such kind of company who can transform my ideas into website? And also should i get a patent before i approach this company so that my idea won't get breached? and also i will make a non disclosure agreement with that company

Any advice would be really helpful for me.

Thanks in advance

Plenty of software startups had their SaaS coded by an employee or contractor.

The marketing plan is far more important than the product.

A patent can protect the execution of your idea. Not the idea itself. 3M has, say, protected the execution of a small rectangle of paper applied by a light strip of glue as the Post-It Note.

If you could figure out a way of doing it with clothespins or ground up angel wing dust, you're good to go.

There are ALWAYS going to be people stealing ideas and executing them their way.

Fortunately these are in the minority as most are already working on their own ideas, and the rest are not good at execution.

You can get potential partners to sign an NDA but as above these are not as valuable as people think they are.

As long as your idea is a real solution, actually works, and you can get it made, then the chief issue is your marketing plan.

The best product won't succeed without sale & marketing.

If you've got this covered, then you're good to go.

Thanks for your insights. I have a good marketing plan about my business idea. All i am looking is to get my product ready. Like you said in your earlier post,

I have to find people who are interested and honest. But without telling your plan how come you will know whether they are interested or not, but in this case you have already revealed your idea to them and if you found them to be dishonest after you have revealed. They have my idea already except marketing plan which i wont' reveal to anyone.

I have my own company and will get my patents. But, if the company found a way to replicate my idea in other terms, it will be too bad for me in that case.

How come successful businesses hired people who designed their websites without copying their idea?

And finally, any recommendations for companies i can approach to? Mine is a very big project and needs lots of functionalities, i don't think i can find someone at Freelancer. No space for fiverr at all in this case.

Sorry, but most business websites are coded by professionals. And it isn't cheap.

      Hey nocturnal,
I am ' tech illiterate' as they get and Wordpress was so easy. It really was. And there are definitely ways you can make WP look like a full blown Website.

      Something to consider

You can do a ton with WordPress, but it has its limitations. And getting anything customized isn't going ot be free.

Are you talking about building a web site or coding?

While technically, sites are built on code, there are many WYSIWYG tools - primarily Wordpress - that can give you a code-free website development experience.

However, if you need some sort of unique functionality, you will likely want to find a coder to handle it for you. In that case, make your way to a freelancing site like Freelancer.com or Upwork.com and look around there.

Well there the easy ways to do this for example wordpress or even easier weebly which i use for my site as i find it much easier and it's getting better by the moment.

My motto is if your no good at it, outsource it to someone who is and who enjoys doing so.

My recommendations? Go to fiverr or outsourcing companies to do the job for you at a cost.

There are many popular successful websites made in Wordpress like Best Buy, BBC America, Xerox to name a few. It's not really the structure of the website that matters most as long as it is a decent site but the contents or the kind of services it provides. Many people even prefer a simple and user friendly site. You can get almost anything from simple html or javascript to e-commerce with only small technical knowledge as most of these are ready made and highly customizable according to your preference.

I started coding websites around 1999. Today I can do anything I could think of, problem is I only think of stupid things or things others thank of first...

When I needed a blog, I coded it myself. A forum? My own code. I have a lot of fun coding and I can code exactly the features I need. It's like people that enjoy building their own homes or cars. I'm in fact always more excited building the product than for the final product itself.

The last few days I've been coding a new complex session/login system for my next site. Near 3000 lines of code and enjoyed everyone of them. And all the lines that were finally removed as well.

I don't lack ideas either to be fair, what I lack is the meanings to market them. I'm currently unemployed (for personal/family related reasons). You can have a fairly good idea or site, but if nobody notices... Really good ones can go viral and grow with little initial investment but I'm not that good at thinking.

I'm too busy with this site that I plan to launch in about two months (see sig). Otherwise I'd like to hear more from you. I could do whatever you imagined. When I'm stuck with something new, there's always Google or StackOverflow. The only real problem is time. The more features, or the more complex, the more time. More so for a single person. I'm used to code 12 or 14 hours a day, sometimes more, really, but there's always a limit to what one can do.

So I have to launch my site first (yeah, I have to stick to a plan for once) but if by them you are still in need we can discuss.

If I were you, I would try and find a technical co-founder. I know you will have to give up part of your business, but in my experience its worth it to have someone with skin in the game when it comes to coding. If you pay someone the bare minimum, thats what you will get. There are plenty of sites out there for non-techies to find a tech cofounder: founder2be . com cofounderslab . com builditwith . me But there are many more

You need developers to make things for you. But you do not want to share your thoughts. I believe no developer know telepathy. So if you really need something you need to get a web guy ( it seems you need custom coding ) and make a deal with him.

    Some thing you should consider.....

    1. Getting a bug free end result is really really costly.
    2. It takes time to make new functionality.
    3. I found people keep changing their mind. And it increase the cost as well. No one work for free.
    4. Go with hourly price if possible as well as ask for a estimate.

I know about studio98 but the are really expensive. But they are professional and they will honour your privacy.
