Doubt: One large article of 57.000 words or 5 (still long) articles?

Hi

I have just done an article of more than 57.000 words and I don´t know if it´s too much content for just one article. It has a navigattion section so there´s no problem for users. But do you think the article length can be a problem for Google to position it? Do you think it may be better to split it in parts as a general rule if each part has more than 10.000 words?

Thanks in advance

I would say to make 5 articles. That will give you more traffic, better response to them, and probably #1 rankings for most of them. Most of the top ranking articles I have seen are about 10k words and that is a lot to read anyways

There are books that aren't that long. Perhaps break your piece down (using the navigation you had to create as a guide) into a series?

57000 words would be a BOOK of well over 100 pages. Makes no sense to call that "an article".

IF the topic is one that has an audience - and IF what you wrote is something people want to read...I'd make it an ebook and write short (800-1000 word) articles that somehow summarize parts of the "book" and lead people to click to download the entire book (by signing up for your email list) or click to BUY the book if that's what you want.

How likely is it that ANY visitor your blog would read the equivalent of 100+ pages of content at one sitting?

As Kay said, 57K words is book length. A good size article is 1K words. So you can make 57 articles. For SEO purposes it is better if there are more articles, than less. Also you can put the articles up, AND compile the book in a pdf to build a list--if the content has enough value.

I write blog articles, and when I do, I don't really bother counting, I usually have a lot to say, it is all about the reader for me not Google. I have done a lot of 500+, but 5700, I gotta say, it is a book

I see... in this case is a guide, so I don´t expect people to read the full guide and only the parts they are looking for.

I´ll split it in some parts and link them with a menu displayed in all of them.

Thanks a lot for all your replies : )

57K words demand a lot from a reader. Hopefully, it's a good read of a book.

I agree with others that it is more like a book length. I makes sense when you said that its a guide where people can look up only the sections that they want.
While SEO is much more than just length, around 1000 or 1500 words articles are received well. So I would focus on the organization of your book/guide. Consider breaking into different articles and then releasing them at regular frequency. This again would tell google that your site gets regular updates (positive for SEO).
