I feel like giving up ive been at this for long time, have decent looking sites that rank well with good products but i guess people are just too weary of internet marketters nowadays and "too good to be true" sales pages on the publishers end

Are you geting random or targetted traffic?
    How are you getting traffic?
Is your content compelling enough to the customers needs?
If you read your own content would it push you alittle to buy what you are offering?
Is the niche just a conversion failure in general?

These are questions I would ask myself, if the niche you are in just is not coverting maybe you should start a new niche and see if you can get different results.

This is a very complex topic but when i first started I had the same problem. I use to scratch my head thinking what the hell was going wrong too.

I will cut a long story short for you because I have tested heaps and we convert on average 1.9% - 3.5% I cant get it any higher than that, but if you ask any good market in here (there are a ton of them) they will tell you 1-2% conversion is good. But it depends on a whole range of things.

    1) make sure that getting HIGHLY HIGHLY targeted traffic. I would rather get 20 highly targeted visitors, than your 950 visitors from plain old cyberspace...as i would be more likely to make a sale.

    2) Join forums, facebook, twitter, other blogs, and hang out everywhere your audience is and try and help them out. Put a small shout out to them and mention your site. You will get lots of sales...trust me. I like to hang out in forums and find out where these people are / talking about / are most frustrated with & what they are craving for find a hot hungry market >> find out what they want >> and give it too them. (i make 6 figures a year doing this, but please dont tell anyone LOL)

    3) Make sure your copy is good...i see too many websites with a good product but their copy is like a 5 year old wrote it. Make it clear, strong, desired, and make them want to click on your links...with strong calls to action. "Click Here To Find Out How Rodger Lost 33 Pounds In His Sleep!" Or "To Get That Perfectly Sculpted Six pack and Notice Amazing Results In As Little As 72 Hours - Click Here!!!" -- you get the picture i guess!!

    4) make your offers more than irresistible, and test things, like headlines, benefits, guarantees and all the rest of it..i dont want to see another sales pages, i want to read, be entertained, and go DAMN HOT DIGGITY GIGGITY....THIS IS EFFING AWESOME... I BETTER NOT LEAVE WITHOUT BUYING THIS BAG OF STUFF, i dont want to miss out!!!

no matter all the tests you do it will come down to 2 things - with traffic... highly targeted traffic, and giving them something they can't say no too. Not an easy feat by anyone's imagination, but im sure you know where to start...

That will keep you busy, but hopefully i have been of some use today.

    Peace my friend, celente

    Ashton,

I think that is a common problem these days. Maybe try to get a break. Promote something else for a while..Just take a breather..

In my experience we can only do so much and then everything else is left to luck..

Don't burn yourself too much, what I usually do when that happens is to stop for a while. But not permanently, otherwise all your efforts will be wasted..

If it's any consolation, I myself am in that position since Friday last week. I drove a total of 1800 plus traffic during the whole week to a cpa site that offers something free and you know how many signed-up? as per CPA site statistics 0...Nada...Nothing...

Just hang on..something is bound to happen soon..Things happen if we move..it's a natural law.

    To your success!

      Raul,

I know it goes against everything you have learned about IM, but try NO-OPT-IN and put "ads" or "stories" in your free stuff. I have gone from nearly 0% conversion to 30 to 65% conversion (downloading) by taking the opt-in out. Around 80 to 90% of the people that DLed it, later come to my salespage, which is what I wanted in the first place. The people that are then buying, buy in under a day of DLing my free book. I now have their name/email to sell more to later (which was the whole purpose of the optin before).

I have not been at this long enough, and I probably will regret saying it, but in my line of information I don't see a use for a free report/optin/email list/somewhere down the road sell them sequence.

In the offline world, if someone did not buy within a day or 2, they had found what they wanted somewhere else and all my efforts would not make a difference.

To the OP, you have to see WHAT is not working. Go over your analytics data with a fine tooth comb, walk through your sales process as a customer and look for little holes. Also check out the source of your traffic compared to bounce rate or goal conversion or time on page. Find out where your "Good" prospects are coming from and only build those visitors.

I have no agenda but to help those in the same situation. This I feel will pay the bills.

I agree that you're in a bit tough situation but don't get frustrated. Try to find out whether the traffic you're getting is targeted or random. Find out the proper niche sites and post over there your products. Try to post in good product review sites. Hope you'll start getting good results!

Dont take it to heart, as you're close to a break through that will change things forever! Visitors mean nothing unless they have some remote interest in your product and you are giving them a compelling reason to buy something. You'll hear this same thing from everyone, but it might make more sense if I put it into an example.

    Untargetted Traffic...
So lets say your website is a hot dog stand and you decide to park it outside of a vegan convention. Well it doesnt matter if 100 people walk past and look at your hot dog stand, as they simply aren't interested in meat products. This is what we call traffic that isnt targetted. Targetting has nothing to do with direction, it's actually about relevance.

    Semi Targetted Traffic...
So after a few fruitless days (pardon the pun) with your hotdog stand and the vegans, you decide to move to a new location that is close to a local car show. Aha! Now we have a better ratio of people that are interested in eating hot dogs (this now becomes semi targetted traffic). So out of every 100 people looking at your stand you have a few that stop to buy your product.

    Targetted Traffic...
So now that you've made a little bit of coin, you decide to go after targetted traffic and move your hotdog stand to a major league baseball stadium on game day. Now you have people that love eating hot dogs, and are accustomed to buying hot dogs while attending that kind of event. BING! Now we have targetted traffic and of the 100 people looking at your stand, you have 20 people buying your product.

    Improved Conversions...
How do you improve your conversion ratio at the same location? You make a compelling offer... so you put up a big ass sign that says "most delicious hot dogs in town or your money back". Then when your customers come to stand in line, you explain to them that they will receive free onions and cheese as a bonus for buying a hotdog.

    Increased Profitability...
How do you make more money per customer? Well when they buy the hotdog with bonus onions and cheese, you tell them they can have a drink for $1 and an extra hot dog for half price. Then as they leave with their hands full of tasty hot dogs and a drink, you thank them for their purchase and explain that you would love it if they told just 1 friend about your delicious hotdogs and the great offer you have for today only.

So I hope that puts things into perspective for you. I always find it's easier to explain something using an analogy and I hope that one paints the picture. The only other thing I can suggest is share your site with everyone so that they can review it and give advice on where to improve.

    Best of luck!

When I am looking for something to buy on the net I will search high and low for exactly what I want to buy.

A good sales page is often the key. It does not mean overly fancy graphics and images.

I like to read a good review that excites me and makes me want to buy it. I get a buzz out of buying and often pleased that i found what I was looking for.

Remember people love to buy - they hate to be sold.

A good tip maybe to find a product you purchased before look at the sales page - what emotions did it invoke in you - what made you say this is what I want to buy right here right now.

Dont feel disheartened - just try better don't get number bound. You will know you are doing well when a few hits to your website converts.

Practice the mantra of TQM - Total quality Management through out your distribution chain!

Your frustration comes from only having half of what you need to make sales.

Traffic does not = sales by itself.

    Traffic + Conversion = Sales.

You're missing the last piece, and unfortunately, that's the "art" part of internet marketing. Getting traffic is easy. You can just buy it. Anyone can get traffic.

The HARD part is convincing that traffic to do ANYTHING but click away. But even though it's HARD, you're fortunate. Because you have traffic, you can TEST.

Test things like getting them to spend more time on the page, getting them to opt-in, giving them free things via email.

    THEN start selling them.

At least, that's the model I try to use. I address all my "selling" content to return visitors, if that makes sense. Then I try to make my site good enough to get return visits.

There are many things need to know:

    1. Is your site content is appealing? If not, buyer will read first two lines and will simply close the site.

    2. Your sales page design and your style to convince them.

    3. From where, you are getting traffic

      Everyone here is absolutely right.

To add on to what others are saying again, it might be your niche.

However, if you are absolutely brassbound in pursuing you niche until you can say you got your first sale, try to have a butterfly affect on your page so all the visitors that don't convert can maybe get others that will.

      Here's the silver lining:

Your visitors don't know that you aren't making sales. You probably have a really attractive site, if you hang out at warrior forum, so use that to your advantage.

Tell people on your page that if they become an affiliate of YOU then you will give them 100%. I know that sounds silly but guess what. When you have 999 people with that kind of incentive promoting your stuff. You will get sales. Best of all, even though you are making $0 on it, you are doing something more valuable: YOU ARE BUILDING A LIST OF PEOPLE THAT BUY STUFF ON THE INTERNET!!! HELLO!

Cherish that list and keep them close to you business with autoresponders like Aweber.

The money is in the list.

Traffic is only HALF the battle.

Answer the following questions before you start marketing and you'll always convert like crazy.

Am I targeting a market that is losing sleep because they don't this product i.e. are they desperate for your solution?

Does my product offer almost instant gratification?

Can I PROVE or DEMONSTRATE that the product gets these results?

    And finally:

Am I following up the prospect via email so I can provide free valuable content first and ask for the sale later.

Do not fall in love with a product. If there are no sales after say...1,000 (500 per site) then consider recharging your sales copy.

Heres the beauty of it....even if you only get 2 customers to buy. You're on to something. Now simply IMPROVE on that to drive more sales. Continue to tweak your sales copy thru continuous split testing (later taguchi testing) ...and always track your advertising.
