Online Video Course - Udemy or Clickbank?

Hi,

I am in the process of creating my first online video course. It is not my niche but we can pretend it to be "email marketing for beginners". Would you rather put this on Udemy or create your own membership site and use Clickbank?

    Udemy is very popular nowadays. Clickbank looks outdated for many.. I think you could get more interested customers on Udemy.

      Do you want affiliates? If so Udemy has none and ClickBank has many.

      Do you want to control your own price? If so ClickBank allows you to, Udemy will promote your course for $10.

      Do you want to collect and control your customer emails? If so ClickBank will allow you to do that.

      Do you want to promote an 1-click upsells immediately after purchase? If so, choose ClickBank.

      Bottom line is if you want full control over your product, customer list, and want to get affiliates promoting your product you'd want to use ClickBank. Udemy is good but lacks many things ClickBank offers. Both have their place, it just depends on what you're wanting to do.

          No, you don't have to pick just one. However if you're wanting affiliates with ClickBank and they see you're offering your course elsewhere for cheaper then they may not want to promote you because they'll see it as competition. Not all affiliates will care or even know you're on Udemy, just something to consider.

        WRONG!! Affiliates can sign up to promote Udemy teaching courses via
        Rakuten Linkshare.

        I promote several Udemy courses myself.

        so with CB you dont need any email OPTINS on your "thank you page" ?
        i didnt knew CB lets you build a list that you can pull from them..

    Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

    I think not getting customers' email addresses is not that big of a problem since udemy offers some sort of chat function where you can interact with people, e.g. I am registered on a course and the instructor sends me links to his website and other courses from time to time.

    However, the amount of control that you have to give up is also bothering me. It is the question if Udemy as distribution channel is so powerful that it is worth to give up some of that control.

    I am still not really sure which one I should choose.

    You could use optimize press and put up a members area. And Decide on a platform to sale on from there.

    I suggest you to use Udemy because Udemy is a great source of online courses across the world with up to 8 million students and up to 32,000 courses available on Udemy. So, I think Udemy is best for you to engage your audience.

        I agree with professorrosado as you can open up different revenue streams with upsells, while at the same time having affiliates promote your products on Clickbank. You may even refer customers from Clickbank to check out your offer on Udemy, which will create a continuous funnel.

    I hate it when people advocate "doing both" or "doing all of them" because it's typically wrong and spoken by people who don't know what the hell they're talking about.

    HOWEVER, in this case, you can. Neither Udemy, Clickbank, or any other marketplace is mutually exclusive. You CAN indeed publish your course on both Udemy and say Clickbank, Linkshare, or JVZoo. Should you? That's for you to figure out.

    Miles Baker doesn't know what he's talking about. Affiliates are at your disposal in both Udemy and CB. Best stick to baking.
