If you are confident in your ability to grow the mailing list for example, with good quality leads, then you could offer the client some form of deal where they pay you when you hit certain targets.

I don't know if these are clients with whom you already have a relationship but if not then you need to minimise their barrier to entry.

Do they know they need to grow their business, have they approached you, as I mentioned elsewhere today the main thing you need to do is solve their problems, once you do that they will be throwing money at you.

Let's pretend every email list addition you get them earns them 100 dollars in sales.
I would be willing to bet they would happily pay ten bucks per lead, I mean who wouldn't increase your investment by ten times.

But if you just spam and add crappy leads then you provide no value to them

So take away their barriers and objections and then make yourself invaluable to them and then you are in a position of strength when it comes to negotiations

theres no wrong way to do it..personally i always get the money upfront or at least a financial commitment (in rare cases)

but its your show...so you need to set the T & Cs that work best for you
and if they dont like it, then they aint a good fit for your services

If you want your client to control the payment options for the account, I would recommend that you have your client add you as a General User to his advertising account. This will allow him to remain in control of his payment options, and allow you to create ads for him.
