Sometimes I jsyt shake my head in disbelief

Sorry for the typo in the header...i cannot change it.

is it just me or does anyone else cringe when they come online and read some the ads?

I mean CB stuff. I never look there any more but some of the products/sales pages I simply laugh.

Some of the banner ads/spam i see is unbelievable. I am thinking "do adults. educated adults at that..actually believe this crap?"

I saw one ad last week and told my wife to look at it..we both laughed but then i thought " do people actually believe this stuff?"

I guess they must do but what does that say about the majority of the crowd they are selling to?

You know the ones I mean?

"50 year old mum reveals secret to look 21"

"Homeless man uses trick to make $30k month"

" The one fat loss secret that will have you looking like a supermodel in 2 weeks"

Many of the WSO's aren't that far behind this.

Is that the market on the Internet? Selling to what? Uneducated? Teenagers? People with an IQ of a brick?

Obviously the biggest culprits are CB/ CPA ads, MMO/ dieting/fitness niches.

It's getting to the stage where i do not want to surf around anymore. I am losing faith in humanity as a whole. I expected a bit more common sense.

Any one feel the same..or do you have no idea what i am talking about?

  • Yeah, I've seen so many horrible, uncreative ads in all my years and it's ridiculous. Often, the offer itself is not even believable.

It goes to show how many people are just in it to try to make a quick buck instead of building a solid business.

Well, just downgrade the claim to, let's say, $212 per day and everything will be fine.

Yes, it's ridiculous! Even things that look interesting and appear to have some valid information can't be trusted. Just one click in and you realize that you've just been "duped" again. The headliner was misleading! Credibility is very hard to find but when you find a trusted source it's refreshing.

Maybe people reading your post will get the message that honesty and integrity is important.

. . . and IMers wonder why this profession has little credibility in general.

As Oliver Perry stated during war time: "We have met the enemy, and they are us."

You can choose to use the hype, scam, and lies as a stark contrast to your own business methods. Your audience will appreciate your brand and marketing principles.

Alot of those ads convert. I know one ad that you've probably seen is from a health and wellness company that does 3M per year.

Remember, if these ads did NOT CONVERT, then you would not see them.
The sad fact is that what you think SHOULD NOT WORK, that is often what is working.

Trust me. I failed the fitness niche not because it wasnt a good niche, but because I thought that I would do it "better" than those who were already successful.

Instead of using what was obviously working for them, I did my own thing, and lost a lot of time in the process.

      Two thoughts...

      (1)
People's unwillingness to face their painful reality (mortality, being alone, being poor, whatever) is what makes them click on those escapist ads. And if we're honest we all indulge (perhaps even in ways we don't notice) in some escapism - to avoid the emotional pain of facing the honest truth.

      (2)
If an ad is repeated - it's usually profitable (if not on the front end, then on the back end). Otherwise why would that person spend money advertising?

      Best,
      Tom

At the end of the day, it's whether you make money or not - legally.

When you die no one is going to ask you if you took the "easy way" or the "hard way" to success online. No one cares. If it were me running these ugly stupid ads but they were making me super profitable..... you'd see them all over the net. And for sure all over this forum.

Anyone willing to comment on this one?

      How about these:
If you could rob a bank and not get caught?
Or kill a few thousand people and not get caught?

OK, I see, you mentioned the word "legally". Do you really think that lying about the product = legal way to make money?

I'm one of those people who's clicked those ads. Specially the "grow your penis 5inches in 5 secs!" one. Now you know what kind of sites I frequent. :-)

I think more than low IQ its really the curiosity that gets them. These ads are basically "clickbait" nicely hidden within real content.

There are scams for every level of intelligence. The key is for the product creator to meet with the product buyer. The masses do not reside in the higher echelons of intellectual acumen - which to me is where everyone should be, however, how much money would be made from them who could create their own solution for themselves?

Know your market. There is nothing wrong with satisfying a need as long as you do satisfy that need - no matter how ridiculous it seems to the "knowledgeable" person. I can laugh at many attempts I see marketers making in the marketplace, but I also realize that there are many people who see it as a real solution for themselves - even if just emotional.

I personally, as many, will feel that we know of or have created ourselves the "better mousetrap", but the market determines what is acceptable as their solution set. However, the general consensus by WF "advisers" is to find what others are doing and "copy" them, their markets and even their WSO's. In this environmental stupor, we shall find no end to this OP's valid concerns.

As was already stated, these offers either are making money or they aren't. We know that we (WF thinkers) wouldn't keep an offer up for years without seeing sales from it.

We all know that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". So too, I submit that, the solution is in the eye of the buyer.

        Good morning all

This is such a good thread, but then, the topic is a pet peeve of mine.

        Truth?

Most people don't think and don't want to have to, which is why fraud brings in more money than drugs rings and arms sales and car theft combined. That's in the US and world wide.

Bobble heads will buy into nearly anything without performing the slightest research. The most annoying phrase, used by more fraud victims than you could possibly believe when speaking of the scammer is, "Yes, but he/she seemed so nice." (sound of head banging against wall) What? You're gonna hand your money over to somebody who's mean and nasty?

I am sick to death of headlines that use shocking, one strange little secret, what nobody wants you to know, and number 15 will blow you away.

I certainly see it in some WSO's - the ones I avoid like the plague. All splash, dash, and hype. Argh.

Sadly, we're coming up to an election year and the bobble heads are gaining momentum.

Come on the ads are to catch attention and cause curiosity in order to make someone click to then read the content behind the ad that caught the eye.

If I ran an ad with "Discover How Complete Newbies Are Making $1000+ A Day" on the banner would you consider that utter nonsense?

With the weight loss I doubt there is anyone who believes it but it still wouldn't stop people taking a look to see what it's all about.

All ads push boundaries and exaggerate I see it on TV I see it everywhere. It isn't just on the internet.

We all have a choice at the end of the day whether we click them or not.

    All The Best
