Please advise on getting users to my website

Hi Worriers,

I would like to seek advice and guidance from you. I have this social platform website which is like a forum and social website mixed. I launched it four months ago but I haven't seen a user yet.
I did create a few fake accounts to do some start up posts too. I also did some advertisings on Facebook and Reddit and I saw there are around a thousand views but no interaction nor signups. My site is also available for Facebook login.

Worriers, please do give me advices and guidance as I am really getting frustrated and I just don't want to throw this away. I'd really appreciate replies and would like to thank you in advance.

Shane

Did anyone visit your site and then not sign up or did noboy even opend the link? I would say that you are a)targeting the wrong people or b) that there is no demand on your niche.

In general, Social Media advertising is good to get fast traffic to your site, but for the long run you need SEO. This is the key in getting traffic. So learn SEO and focus on that. If you need help for this, feel free to ask me about.

Forums are tough to launch, manage, and monetize. My advice would be to find a different business model that is simpler and easier to make sales with. What kind of things on your forum do you use for monetization?

You said no signups, but are you getting traffic? If so, then maybe you should consider making changes to the actual platform / idea first.

      Thank you for your reply.

Yes I did get a bit of traffic when I advertised but no sign-ups.

The concept of my website is to let people express whatever they feel or whatever it is on their minds (anonymous mode available), and get caring, encouragement and advice from other users.

*Whatever people post will go on the main homepage and the more likes (hug, HighFive and comments) it gets, the position of the relative post will go down on the main page and rise up on the trending page.
(It is kind of based on 9gag, only with more words, different concept and post ordering)

I won't give up on my idea but I would love any criticism or advices on this as I could do modifications if needed, and I really want this to work.
So please GUIDE ME, TEACH ME AND HELP ME.

      Thank you.

First of all, you need to ask yourself if there is potential interest from a specific audience. If you did correctly a market research and you concluded its a good niche with buyers potential, then you need to focus in the next question.

Bring qualified traffic to your website... this seems to be simple but in many cases is not that easy to accomplish.

So you need to understand what is your target audience, from that point you can start advertising by PPC since normally it can be the most targeted solution. Normally i use FB advertising and it can be really targeted if you know how to do it.

If your niche is something broad, you can try your Niche forums and blogs since it could be free traffic, but it will require a lot of work in your end until you get a nice amount of traffic to your site.

i believe this should be a good start.

I open your website and the first thought is, what is it, what does it do and how do I use it?

I would create a modal popup to first time visitors explaining what the sites about and why people should use it.

Here is a suggestion for you, just click the link of your website as a random visitor and do see it like the same. Then you will come to know what actually is needed there and what you have to change or what you have to add there. In this way you will have the better idea of what you have to do. Just give it a go.

Hello, your website is quite good. I just viewed it
But you know nowadays, competition is increasing in every field of work, so you must have to be very careful and very deliberate in choosing the niche.
Plus, you have to create some fun in your website, make it look more attractive to people and insert some kinda cool stuff, like giveaways and free prizes. Also, introduce it on social media pages.

If you are not familiar with SEO. Than go to fiverr and purchase a few backlinks to start with.
You can also promote on Landyrd.com as an event site. It works well for new sites.
And, if your have the budget, get a PPC campaign. Targeting social platform sites are best using Facebook. Create a FB page and buy targeted traffic.

WAY TOO MUCH TO THINK ABOUT.

You need to think about what the user thinks when they first see your website. When I had a look, my brain almost melted at the complexity of it and the lack of guidance, so I bounced.

If you look at popular social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest, what do they do when a new user first visits their extremely complex website?

They get the user to sign up and make that the first step, then they slowly guide the user into the experience until they are ready to go off on their own and enjoy the platform.

At the very least include a sign up button. Users shouldn't have to click log in and then click register. Just have the sign up button there, nice and visible.
