Been Away For A While, Whats New?

Hey everyone! I use to be heavy into the internet marketing side of things a few years ago. I then started a brick and mortar business and that has consumed my life until now. My brick and mortar store has me working only part time now so im looking to take up IM. Im not looking at this as a professional career, but more of as a profitable hobby as prior it was just something i enjoyed doing.

So since ive been done for a while, what are some trends or ideas that i should focus on? Is Amazon affiliate marketing still relevant and a thing or is there something else kind of taking over i should look into.

Since this industry changes every minute of everyday, just looking at what my new starting point should be.

Thanks for any help!

I joined in 2011 also, and the same techniques for making money works:

    - Get site and build squeeze page
    - Drive traffic to squeeze page
    - Use email marketing to drive traffic to your sales page
    - Profit
    - Do backend marketing
    - Then $500 box (or $1,000 seminar or coaching)

    Simple.

I would echo what Randall said above.

Sure, the marketing venues and web sites change all the time, but the essence of IM, putting quality offers in front of a targeted audience, hasn't changed and what worked back then can still work today. Just make adjustments as the need arises.

      Welcome back.

Selling t-shirts is a big thing now. I don't know when you left, so maybe they were big then too.

    Welcome back, fellow Michigander.

The evergreen marketing techniques still work. Mix them up with some new trendy products such as coloring books for adults and you can make a nice income on the side online again.

    Welcome back.

Try applying what you learn about IM/SEO to your offline business.

Google is much better at ranking legit sites these days, so if you have a good business then write articles and get busy on social media.

A lot of what some of fellow Warriors have said definitely holds true

I will also add this past year or two I have noticed some examples of 'Gimmick Marketing ' I really hadn't seen before.
i.e. send poop to a person you do not like or send a potato to congrat a friend or relative for a milestone event. Also pranks and gift openings have gotten huge on Youtube.

Iam not saying these are necessarily viable options to want to pursue but it is interesting how some forms of creativity ( as silly as they may seem ) have made their presence on the Web and Social Media and produced large profits for some

I think the operative word is "out" here.

In other wards it seems by using the word "out" you're inferring to whats hot and what's not.

But NOT necessarily what's effective and what's not effective .

Because Article Marketing via syndication is still just as viable as it was 10 years ago. No question !!

To a certain extent so is SEO

And you can easily prove this, right? Or do you mean it's <stroke>viable</stroke> doable, but completely useless?
Some article marketing peddlers are out, that's indeed true.
