I'm assuming you want to know why people care about this adding value to the forum.

Because by adding value to the forum, as a marketer, your adding value to the community as a whole.

It's a place where aspiring marketers can go to get solid information, and a place where experienced marketers can make money, so it's a good place for both.

I'd say most people want to give back. Most peolpe want to build their credibility. A lot of experienced marketers want to provide good value so they can earn on it. Some just enjoy trying to help.

Problem is, you will get feedback from all types...

People that haven't made any money to speak of, people providing what they heard and consider value, people that made a little and people that did good and all in between.

This means you'll have to dig through the majority of "value" given back to find the good value. Most newbies have a hard time with this. And then what works for some may not work for you.

At the end of the day you end up having to pick out the nuggets and test for yourself. But, yes you will get lots of "help".

The WF may be nice but I don't think this alone will be all the info you need. I'd say there's a treasure trove of knowledge far beyond this place, but it's still a good place to start, if anything.

It does kind of go against the grain of what a stereotypical internet marketer is doesn't it? Selfish, self-absorbed, competitive, and those are the nice qualities.

But still I'm not sure what other "free industry forum" has members who help each other (who could possibly be their present or future competitors) the way this forum does.

Even the people who complain, harp, belly-ache and whine come back, again and again. If for no other reason than just to see if anything's changed, gotten better ... or worse!

Yes, it is all kinda weird isn't it. I'm not sure if anyone's totally figured the whole thing out - even the owners.

A lot of people here are friendly because they simply want to promote their products and websites. Just go into any thread that's popular and you will see the same answer posted over and over. One liners after one liners.

This forum is successful for various reasons, some of which have already been mentioned.
It's a worldwide community gathering of people with some like-minded interests.
Members have varying skills and abilities with minimum through to massive knowledge about certain aspects of marketing.

Nobody can know everything. As Zig Ziglar once said -
"You'll get everything you want in life IF you help enough other people to get what they want."

People can ask and answer questions and the forum records the answers for others to view later. This is an incredible knowledge base from which to draw whatever information you need.

It is no different than any other forum in any other field. I am a member at some fishing forums and guess what, everyone there is helpful. I am also a member at a couple of DIY forums, they are all very helpful.

Heh ... is OP confused because they came in expecting a bunch of psycho/sociopaths who think of nothing but their own profit 24/7?

Stable, mentally healthy people like having conversations about what they do for a living and helping each other out when the occasion arises. Unless you're a total megalomaniac, there's plenty of money out there to go around.
