Givig away stuff to build my list

Mediafire- Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire - may be a good option for you. As soon as the people optin to your list send them a link to the file you uploaded to mediafire. Not the most secure way of doing things, but probably the most basic.

If you personally created these videos or have private label rights to them, you could brand them with a link to a webpage of yours that offers something for free and where they have to optin to your list to get it.

Then consider advertising on this forum and others and either giveaway or sell these branded videos with master resell rights hence these videos will become viral and help generate traffic to your free gift and optin page hence building your list.

Sarah, whats the name of your video course you are wanting to giveaway? Is it the one you sell online re: the one advertised in your signature?

The best way is on your own site. Build a folder with an obscure name. You could also give your videos a name that`s hard to guess.

Make double damn sure you have at least a blank index.html file in it - VERY IMPORTANT FOR SECURITY. This way some cracker can`t go to youtubeloophole/sarahsvideos and see everything inside the folder. You could put a small message on it (and you could get creative here) but the best would be to redirect to a 404 error page.

Then password protect it with htaccess. The easiest way is with cPanel if your host has it. There are tons of scripts that do this too. So just by renaming your stuff and using a blank index.html that redirects will give you a small measure of security but apaches htaccess is the best.

I should mention here that if you use a redirect, you should protect the files in the folder, not the folder itself ) Then build the url with the download in the file name. ie; your-url/videos.zip
Or build an html page(using an obscure name) with the download links and protect that instead of using a redirect and retaining the index.html.

Then after your prospect double-optins, your first email gives them the link, username and password.
This makes it easy to add or delete offers, make a new folder for another list or what ever you want.

Another option to consider...

You could ask other Internet marketers if they would like to add your video product for sale as a bonus product to their own product they sell online and if they interested you just make it a condition that they have to send their customers to your download page which you'll make sure has an optin form.

This way you don't have to giveaway your product for free and you get to
build a list of customers which far outweighs a list of possibly freebie seekers.

Just an idea

There is a software called Boomerang that locks your product, then when people download it they have to opt in to your list before getting the unlock key.

This is a very good thread and something I've been thinking about.

I've got some high quality video squeeze page templates and I need to know the best way to do the same.

if you're worried about the videos being distributed without your permission you could build a membership site and have the videos included in the members area and display the videos there in the members area without a download option.

You do have to take into account additional bandwidth but you allows you to build a list with the membership. There are lots of applications that can help do this and probably a few free scripts too.

I know that DLGuard.com recently was able to implement their software with Aweber and a lot of other payment processors.
