How To Start Amazon Affiliate Marketing

So i had been a sleeping dog for a long time. Recently i decided that i should start talking about what i do because i was happy with what i was doing. I am an Amazon Affiliate Marketer and i am going to write a post for newbies here. If you are not a newbie, this post will not attract you for sure so newbie alert :p. Let's start.

You all know what is Amazon Affiliation. I won't talk about the definition. I will talk about the simple 5 steps that you should follow if you want to earn from Amazon Affiliation.

Step 1: Research your Product

This is the key step for me. Researching involve tons of parameters. For example, you will have to make sure that you are selecting a product that has low competition in the first page of Google. The keyword competitiveness should also be below 30. At the same time, make sure that there are one/two weak links in the first page (Youtube, Forum links and etc.) It will be easier for you to get into the first page in those cases.

Special Suggestion: Do not go with a product because you like that product. Do research before you select the product. Also, you don't need a product that is highly searched. I have a website that talks about a product which has around 800 searches each month. The website earns 4 figure income. Guess why? I don't have competition. A

Step 2: Create Your Content

I always suggest people to create content before creating the site. At least start with 25 articles including a standard homepage article with your main keyword. You will also need comparison tables, explaining videos will be even better.

Step 3: Creating the Website

WordPress has made our lives a lot easier. It doesn't take time to create websites. Make sure that your site has a simple look and a quality loading speed. The site should be mobile friendly. Make sure to keep a subscribe plugin (Though they don't work great).

Step 4: Putting The Amazon Affiliate Links

Now you will create your Amazon Affiliate id. Do not create it in previous steps because Amazon has a 180 days policy. If you can't get sales within 180 days, they will ban you which you don't want.

Step 5: SEO

This will determine your success. For quick results, try to come up with quality articles and engaging posts for several blogs. For long term success, keep doing the regular SEO to rank your site up. The Yahoo and Bing are easy to handle. Target Google and those will rank you automatically.

From my experience, if you can't make sales within 3 months of launching the site, you are actually not working hard. If you work hard then there is no way that you will not be able to earn within 3 months. So if it is more than three months, may be affiliation is not for you.

Special Note: This is the best time to start your affiliation journey because Holiday season is knocking. People will go crazy for Amazon in a few days.

Great Tips! Results takes time and effort. 3 months is not a basis to stop if you are not able to make sales. Keep moving and learn, learn, learn... Till you realize what works and does not work and move or try other directions.

I agree with you man. I have seen my students get super inspired with a standard deadline ahead. And i actually believe and i know (From experience) that 3 month is a good enough deadline to at least get to the first sale.

How do you build you Amazon links. I notice that you just say basically "click here to go to Amazon". No easy azon or anything similar? So, this works better because you never have to keep up with the pricing yourself?
Also, how would I find out what my niches keyword competiveness number is?
    Thank you ...

When it comes to product selection, it helps out a lot if you choose a product that's in a niche market that you are already a part of (in terms of ownership). This way, you can basically write from your head when it comes to the content and what not. You'll be able to provide real insight rather than just regurgitated information from the merchant page. Potential customers appreciate this, and it will increase your conversion rates. Just make sure it gets a good amount of searches. Oh, you also shouldn't forget to cross promote related products that can increase the amount of your commissions. With Amazon, it's pretty easy because it basically tells you what these products are.

All you do is send traffic to amazon even when they do not end up buying what you send them to buy and they changed for another product you still get the commission

Thank you for answering. I actually have a couple of Amazon sites up myself. He answered my question on not using Easy Azon and just direct linking to Amazon, I know how this is done but what I was really getting at and am still curious about is "where" to get a low competition number like the under 30 that he suggested. What inexpensive software can I use for this. I have LTP already.

You are absolutely correct. There are two basic methods. Either you can go for EasyAzon type themes and plugins which will give you an Amazonish look and in the simpler fashion, you just add your buttons and texts and link those to Amazon. I have both types of sites and this doesn't matter much in terms of conversion. Both of them will earn you money if you can rank the site properly.

So i take it selling Amazon products is easier than selling Clickbank products? Is it still worth it to sell on Amazon as an affiliate when you consider the commission rate from both sites?

Randall, to me its way better to sell Amazon products. 1st, these are good products, 2nd, Amazon has a great cookie policy which will give you commission for 24 hours on whatever the customer buys. Per unit comission is low in Amazon but the total volume is high. You can touch four figure income in 6 months if you work properly.
