There are many ways to increase your site traffic. Such as you can do Relevant Forum posting, Relevant Blog commenting, Social Media sites & so on. Most of time I use these easy ways only. You can use these ways if you want. Best of luck.

  Thanks for tip but my experience with FB groups is not good.
  I joined many facebook groups in marketing niche, but most of the groups consist of Porn ads or Other ads, there is hardly any helpful post. I have also shared many tips and popular posts in different groups but never got even a single visitor.

Apart from organic search I would agree social media would now be the number one source for a lot of businesses. Social media is so much more than just "social media" these days, it represents the brand, in fact, it is such a strong part of any brand that you must engage through it through more than just product advertisements etc.

Other than social media, then forums and I have found press releases to be good too, but have not found free release sites lately to work well, if anyone knows different please point the way!

We all love free traffic.

Here's another way to consider generating it...

1. Find out where your audience hangs out.
2. Position yourself there, and effectively.

Example: IMDB

Imagine you have a website that offers an IMDB experience (just an example; don't do it).

Take a look here:

IMDB Stats

Let's look where our audience appears to hang out:

- Reddit
- Facebook
- Youtube
- Twitter
- Google
- A bunch of shady sites
- Amazon

A 20 second investigation has highlighted 5 prime locations from which we can derive free traffic.

Imagine if we spent a day or a week investigating.

The information we find out will form our "traffic plan." And it depends, entirely, on the specific audience we intend to target.

If you want free then social media is the way to go. More work in creating a crowd base but it can be worth it. Also google, blogs and forums are useful if you are helping the right audience. The best free traffic is hard work, that is if you want a lot of it.

If you create a product, affiliate traffic from JVZoo/W+ have worked really really well. The tie that you would spend doing SEO etc could be spent creating a product of value that you can build an affiliate base with.

I recently created a course on Udemy and strategically named the course with a title that had keywords that I was trying to rank on it. It's been a decent source of extra income now since Udemy promotes it and Google also ranks it pretty well. So I'd say that's another free traffic source to look into. Only problem with Udemy is that you have to be creative in getting people off of Udemy and onto your email list without breaking TOS.

Can I ask why free traffic? Paid traffic is much easier to scale because you're paying money for the traffic and you can just pay more for that traffic to get more.
With regards to free traffic though, I like to get affiliates to sell my products for a commission. You would still have to pay for a few things to get the product set up but the traffic itself would be free.

Nothing's "free," as everything has a cost involved- whether that cost is your own time or buying the skills and/or time of others. As far as marketing that does not absolutely require a monetary out of pocket cost, I prefer social media. What type of social media or other marketing is most effective depends a lot on your niche and what you are selling, IMHO. But I think almost any brand or business will benefit in multiple ways with an active social (and other marketing) presence.

My faves: Youtube, instagram, forum, yahoo answers. Also, keep in mind bing and adwords offer free $50/$100 coupons all the time. That's the best free advertising to me. Keep your eyes peeled bud. Cheers.

If you use facebook, look for niche related groups, there is an abundance for niche groups I've been in loads like alternate medicine, vocalists, internet marketers, gardeners etc..
You can get away with posting in some of these, and some contain over 50k depending on what you join.
I have blogs, which auto feed to facebook, twitter and tumblr.
I'm aiming to start Youtube soon, heard mixed things about posting on Reddit so I haven't looked into that just yet.

Another thing you could try is free solo ads, where you can post an ad once daily say to 5k people, but the downside is the rebuttal, those 5k people will advertise to you. Quick play with email filters (or setting up a spare email address) can keep these spamming your primary mailbox.

I guess a lot of people answered pretty good comments already but I would also go for social media and continuously writing a posting good content.
I've seen on several places that SEO and keywords can be overrated.
Joining forum discussions and reaching out to people can be a good way to get your name out there and thus more traffic
