Quickie Question on Article Marketing. What Do You Do?

I wrote an article on ezines. Now I want to build backlinks to that article. When building the backlinks would I use the same keyword phrase that I want my website to rank for as the anchor text, in the backlinks that point to ezines?

Also categories vs pages..does it make a difference what I backlink to?

Thanks!

I don't get it. Why do you want to build backlinks to an article? The purpose of the article is to build backlinks to your site. Or are you referring to how to build a resource box?

    Actually backlinks to the article.
Normally I would not do that but ..this is for a new site I just made that is not indexed yet and I want to get some traffic to it.

Also I did read on here that it is good to get on main page of google several times for your key phrase..ie with your site, with ezines etc.

I've noticed it helps to use the exact keyword phrase in my article title along with the exact keyword phrase in my bio as anchor text that leads to the page were you want your visitors to land including linking back to an article.

      Cheers,

So Dean you are saying you link to your EZA articles from other sites also? Or are you saying you link back to articles at your site?

Yes, use the same keyword phrase as the anchor text that you want your website to rank for.

It's a good idea to build some links back to your ezine articles. Just a handful. This adds relevance and creates a user experience which essentially ends up at your website.

By pointing a few links back to your ezine articles from other similar / theme related articles you are adding authority to them.

Thanks Andy this is what I am planning to do. Normally I want to backlink to my site not EZA but since the site is new and not indexed yet...I think this will be beneficial. My question is do you use the exact same anchor text when you are linking back to the EZA article as you would to your site if that is the keyword phrase you want to get indexed for?
Or is there a concern that the EZA article would rank higher than your site?

Some people do backlink to articles on EzineArticles to improve their ranking.

Personally I point all back links at my sites.

Imagine if you built up a huge amount of backlinks to Eza and they changed their policy or shut down or something??

If you've already submitted the article, then presumably you've already put the links in there. Not too sure why you're now asking whether they should be to your category/page?

Also, I'm not too sure it would be a good idea to use the same anchor text but could be wrong on this. My 'technophobic' brain tells me it wouldn't be a good idea as the article will then rank better than your website. But then as it's pointing to your site anyway...

Be interested to know the right answer myself.

Of course I have links in my ezine article linking to my website.

However, my website is brand new. It has not been indexed yet by Google. I would like to get some traffic flowing to it.

So my thought is to place a few links to the ezine article (which someone who is very skilled at article marketing told me he did).
Then the article would appear higher up in Google and hopefully generate some traffic to my website while I am waiting for the site to be indexed.

Naturally on a regular basis my goal is to build links to my site not EZA.

My question is would I use the same anchor text.

Yeah, San, I can't figure out why anyone would waste time backlinking to an article either. Once you submit the article, if it's worth beans, other people use it for their own sites and ezines and you will get your backlinks from that. I put the article on my own site, wait 48 hours then submit it to EA. That process has gotten me tons of backlinks because people use those articles for content so they are invaluable for backlinks with little work involved other than the writing. People click, too - I can honestly say that at least of half of my original traffic was from EA.

From my experience, that's my best advice - just toss on a decent resource box with your main page URL - then just put the right keywords in the keyword section when you submit the thing. If it's not working for you, write more interesting articles. I've never even bother stuffing keywords into an article and this system works incredilbly just using a naturally written article.

YES! Use the same anchor text to link to your articles that you are trying to rank your website for.

It is great strategy to try and get some link love to your Ezine Articles...especially for a new site. Ezine Articles tend to rank very well in Google anyway, so if you are able to bump it up a bit with some links to the articles, you will start getting more traffic. I have a couple of articles that have gotten me over 1,000 clicks (not just views) in the past 2 months EACH! Google loves to rank EzineArticles.

I am not sure why people are confused about why you would want to do that. The ultimate strategy is to have 2 spots on the first page of Google. Can you imagine if your website is ranked number 1 in Google and your Ezine Article is ranked #2 in Google for the same keyword? That is the ultimate goal here.

    This is GREAT strategy.
