are traffic exchanges a bad idea?

Im currently using traffic ad bar which gets me a lot of traffic, but does that actually hold any value other than making your stats look better.

    Hey Walsh,

I'm unable to vouch for Traffic Ad Bar; never used it, nor am I familiar with anyone who has. What I can do instead is give you some brief insight into traffic generation. At a guess, I'd say what you pick up will help you more than TAB.

NB: Apologies. What follows is quick. Busy day.

    Near The Pin

Okay. So you're in the golfing market.

    I type "golf" into Google.

    #1 spot is Golf.com.

    I plonk it into SimilarWeb.com.

    Right here: Golf.com Stats

NB: You can get okay results from SW with a free account, but you get what you pay for.

I'm on a mission, Walsh. I know jack about golfing traffic. Time to educate myself.

A 20 second look at the above link tells me where I can get "decent" free golfing traffic:

    1. Facebook
    2. Twitter
    3. Reddit
    4. Youtube
    5. Google
    6. Answers
    7. Bing

Tells me a bunch of other stuff. Interests of brevity, let's stick with those 7.

And lets look more closely at 1 of 'em.

    Facebook.

    I enter this into Google:

    site:facebook.com golf.com

    Brings up this:

    https://www.facebook.com/SI.Golf

I can use that page to figure out what they do to send traffic and grow traffic. If I look more closely at the SERPs (Google) I can get even more links to check out.

    Upshot: Audience Hangouts

Seriously now. I don't know you from Adam, but if you use any more traffic exchanges, I might actually start throwing stale doughnuts.

The above is quick, granted. But use it as a springboard to learn more abo9ut traffic generation.

Best advice I can give you here: find out where your target audience hangs out and figure out how best to place yourself before their eyeballs in order to generate a desired outcome.

I hope that helps, matey. I like your site (you need to work some more on optimizations for it; use the subforum on WF to learn; good site though).

The only people that profit from Traffic Exchanges are the ones that own them. You need quality endorsed traffic....you probably have to buy it

You're using the system so you are in the best position to tell all of us if it's giving you any value. How about it? What's it doing for your bottom line?

Personally, I am not in the game for great stats.

Traffic and safelists work. Many top marketers such as Marlon Sanders, Mike Flisman, to name a few use traffic exchange marketing. It is a good way to build a list.

I've made a lot of money from traffic exchanges back in the day. Even
had a product based on the topic which also did very well. But you
have to know HOW to use the exchanges and WHAT to promote.
TIP: Everybody in the network is looking for traffic.

Unless that traffic converts to your Most Wanted Response (subscription, affiliate click, sale, whatever), it doesn't make any stat that counts look better. It makes it worse.

Consider this simple equation: MWR / Traffic = Conversion

If you inflate traffic without a similar inflation of MWR, conversion rate goes down. And conversions are what pay the bills, not traffic.

Traffic exchanges are not the way to get fruitful traffic that actually converts. The most traffic coming from traffic exchanges are junk and poor quality.

Traffic exchanges do not work well for me as well. To me, they are not-targeted traffic. So even if you receive, say 100000 visitors to your website, only 0.01% will convert into subscribers and even lesser will convert to sales.

High stats do not equate to good results.

It is better to spend your time on other well-proven methods, e.g. article submission, blog posting, social media to get the traffic that you want.

The question is with who do you change. the ideal option would be to change it with those who have the same target audience, because if you will change it with completely irrelevant audience then what will be the benefit for you?

    Really depends on the offer.

A squeeze page offering "free methods to get traffic" will work on traffic exchange websites. People on these website are looking for ways to increase traffic.

    Cheers,

    C.G.

If you try to build your business solely around traffic exchanges you will be in for a very hard uphill climb.
When I first started online I stumbled into the world of Traffic exchanges, safelists etc. I probably joined 150 or so in about a year and a half. Most of them were worse than useless. What happens is you end up madly clicking for credits, not caring what the ads say so that you can send your ad out to people who will ignore it while collecting credits for doing so.
I still belong to a few of the more productive ones and actually get opt ins and some sales but if that was my only source of income I would starve.

Yeesh, traffic exchange has always been a pointless endeavor in my eyes. You might as well buy the traffic for all its worth. At least with services like webtrafficgeeks or trafficmagic you actually get some results.

Traffic exchanges don't work at all. I've drawn the conclusion that most of the traffic you're supposedly getting is fake.

    No.

Why spend your money there when you can spend on Bing Ads, Google Adwords, mobile marketing, or advertising to find new affiliates for your product?
