Marketing Research Advice

Hi,

I am by no means a marketing pro, or an amateur for that matter. I have a client that wants to do an Facebook ad campaign. She is looking to target Midwest US "Snowbirds" (People who generally travel South to live for the winter.) I have no doubt I would be able to figure out setting up the ad on Facebook, but don't know the best online tools to find more information about the location of that demographic.

Can anyone please advise me on the best way to approach this campaign? I need to find that demographic, and figure out the best way to set up an ad on Facebook to target that market. It would be amazing if you could help a guy out! Thanks!

    Hello Dangoers

The best way to approach this campaign is very easy but takes a bit of time. You can create a page if they have no page yet and make sure to generate likes to it.

If the facebook page has already been established then post high quality post to it. Like an article, video or even pictures. That way your page can gather likes of people with same interest.

Make your page not just a page for advertisement, but also a page where everyone can learn and get information from it. Because once a page help a people they will certainly like it and when they like it their friends will see it.

Social media is the best way to generate sales and build reputation if you make it right.

    Thanks

Start with the tourist and convention bureaus of the most popular Snowbird states (start with Florida, Texas, Arizona). If they don't have any stats on the site, contact them and ask about where most of their visitors come from. Different states tend to attract people from different states. For example, Florida pulls a lot of people from Ohio, but Texas tends to pull from Michigan and Wisconsin. Many from Minnesota tend to land in Arizona.

Another way to refine your targeting is by age. Almost by definition, Snowbirds tend to be retired.

Once you have a general idea, start filling in the blanks by going to Facebook and looking for, say, retired people from Ohio who like pages in Florida. Use your imagination, and you'll be amazed at how you can refine things.

Does AARP have a group on Facebook? I don't know but it would be one alternative to target snowbirds.
