I'm a beginner and I have this deep interest in making marketing videos. But at this rate I totally don't know where to start. I don't know what type of videos to make. I don't know which video making software to use. I tried AE CS6 but it's too difficult and time consuming. I tried using other video making tool online but they seem to be very cliche and clients don't like them anymore. Should I stick with AE and train myself to death? I guess my other question is how can I learn Adobe After Effects effectively. So far it's been very difficult.

    Hi,

Software: Use Screencast-o-matic it´s easy to use and comes with a free version and a pro version. The pro version costs $15 a year.

You can create some review videos for CPA offers or JVZoo.

Actually Stephen Gilbert made a good product recently called Simple CPA Siphon that will help you a lot if you want to tab into video marketing. it works well.

I´m not affiliated with Stephen Gilbert in any way

Thanks a lot for the reply. I've checked screencastomatic and it's a screen video recorder. What I'm looking for is a video making software like After effects but is much easier to use.

    Do this.

Find a dozen marketing videos you think are fantastic on YouTube. Not average, FANTASTIC.

Contact the channel owner and ask him what software he used to make the video, or who made it for him.

You're going to find out a variety of programs were used to make them, but Adobe's After Effects and Sony's Vegas line-up will probably lead the group.

Choose which program you want to use, then search for YouTube tutorial playlists for the program. You can become proficient within a few days. It will take much longer to become an expert, but you don't need expert skills to get started.

Having dabbled a bit in corporate video production myself, I am very fond of Final Cut Pro it's very easy and informative to use especially when you are just starting out. Good luck.

Camtasia will run you $300. I used Camtasia for a couple years and liked it.

Alternatives like Sony Movie Studio can be bought for much less. I've seen it on Steam sale for around $50.

I use Sony Movie Studio 13, purchased for about $100 off Amazon. It came with a ton of extras, effects, and downloadable content. Been using it for over a year and very happy with it. As long as you're not interested in high def animation, it will do everything you need.

I use Screencast-o-matic for screen capture. I has a rudimentary editor in it as well, but I'm not sure if it's only for editing video captured by this program.

Once you get used to how one editor works, you'll be able to pick up others easily. I had no problem switching from Camtasia to Sony MS...just a few syntax things to work out.

I worked in video production in New York City for several years. There are a million ways to accomplish the same thing. I'll give you a few ideas:

    1. Determine whether or not you will use your PHONE to shoot, or a PRO CAMERA. Which is it?
Then go shoot with your phone on a tripod or buy a pro camera.

    2. If you are running a MAC use Final Cut X. It's easy just watch a YouTube clip on how to do "basic editing". Final Cut X allows easy exporting. YouTube also has a built in video editor which is free. Again, watch a YouTube clip on how to edit.

    3. Shoot with your phone, send the footage to a video editor on FIVERR. Easy 123.

*TIP Sound is probably more important than the quality of your video. I've seen a ton of videos with 24P cinematic looking with crappy sound. Make sure your sound is 100% crystal or it will piss off your viewers.

There is some good advice here...

      Sound is vitally important.

Apart from the editing suite...you can use any variety of software that you have access to.

When I started out making videos for marketing I found the content that Mike Koenigs shared was valuable as was what Scott Lundergan was doing with OptimizeMyVideo.

One of Mike's Studio tours is here...

I'd encourage you to look at some of the other stuff he's made over the years.

Andy Jenkins Video genesis also has some good content from the production side.

Editing is something that "has to be done".

You either outsource or get skilled up....

      ...or both.

Good lighting and sound make up the bulk of what is required for online video.

It is so cheap nowadays to meet this minimum requirements that it shouldn't be an impediment to anyone to get going.

      Now...content and messaging...that's a whole other thing.
