Do you think the article writing niche is overflow?

I had an idea today to start an article writers marketplace. Basically a place where writers offer their writing services. just like textbroker.com and stuff

what do you think? is there too much authority competition in this niche?

Can you recommend me a similiar niche if you dont think this is a good idea?

    It will be a very long time before the Internet is saturated with any niche.

    See, competition is what it's all about. Crawl every web site in the niche then spend time developing your own web site that is better. If building such a business makes your mouth water and your fangs grow, you will find a way to offer article writers and article buyers a unique setting that meets their needs.

    You might try setting up a venue where you could take a survey to see where each market's frustrations lie, starting with writers and buyers right here in the forum.

    There can be a niche if you are offering this to a specific audience (may be just university students or sometihing like that) or specific topics or a different more attractive business model or something that you are attracting that textbroker or others aren't... but if you are going to pretty much clone textbroker.com, then your battle just became difficult.

    There is a such a site that was launched in the past few months and it seems
    to be doing well. The question you have to answer is, "what can you do better
    than the your competition?"

    When I was starting my copy coaching program about 8 years ago, some
    of my colleagues thought I was bold because of the other big names in the
    industry. But I went ahead anyway, because I know I could offer what
    those big names didn't--more personal attention. I critiqued ALL my
    students copy and my program was/is a success for me.

    So if you can enter a niche and offer something better than your competition,
    even if they are better known you'll do well.

    Hi,
    thanks all you guys for your replies, I think Im going to give it a go.

    As you said, I do have in mind a couple features that other sites don't have and blog owners and internet marketers can find very intresting.

    So Im planing to launch a "day 1" version of the site without the special features, so I can build a list, people sign in to the site and say meh... just another article writing marketplace, but then one day receive an email saying "hey checkout our exciting new features!"...

    now I can think of some advertising and promoting channels, but I would love to hear which advertising channels have worked for you in the past!

    There is always room for more even in a competitive space.

    People say something is saturated and forget that every year a new graphic designer gets a lucrative job or starts a lucrative business regardless of the million graphic designers out there.

    The biggest thing is to see what the competitors are doing and seeing how you can differentiate yourself.

    You might also try targeting people that a lot of other content mills don't - so instead of targeting marketers with affiliate sites you might charge a premium and market the service to law firms who also need content for instance.

      You're assuming that people will say "meh, just another article writing marketplace" and still sign in. You may get a few, but a lot more will simply hit the back button and keep hunting.

      Better to use an approach that says, 'it's plain vanilla now, but here's some of what's coming soon - sign up before it's available and get [some advantage].'
