Post craigslist ads to buy gift cards

While I make really good money, I'm also cheap...I like getting a deal.

So I try keep a couple craigslist ads running all the time to buy gift cards/store credit. I've been doing this since 2012.

Depending on the card, you can get them typically from .50-.75 on the dollar.

If you try it and there's a bunch of competition. Put that you will buy day or night in your ad. A lot of times it's a business that buys them and being available when they are closed helps.

I just meet people somewhere real close to where I live, so I don't waste time or fuel doing it. You need to verify that the cards are good / amount on them, but all the stores have a way to check it online and you can just use your phone.

While this isn't big bucks, it probably translates into an easy $200-$300 per hour for the time I spend doing it.

Anyway, I just thought I would post this in case anyone finds it interesting.

      Mainly I use them, that way I get 25% or better off of what I'm buying.

      There is a market to resell them. You can look online and see Walmart cards selling for like 97%. I get them no problem for 75%. Lowes cards selling for like 91%, I get them typically for around 65%.

      It's really become more of a hobby for me. I just get a kick out buying them and knowing when I use it, I'll save 25% or more.

        This definitely works. I use to buy gift cards all the time on Craigslist and then resell them on cardpool and some other site I forgot the name. I just posted 2 "Buying giftcards in cash" posts on craigslist and I would have at least someone message me daily whether I went to go buy them or now.

        If someone could get a small team together and do this daily, you could really make a good chunk of change.

    Thanks, you just give me an idea about what in my frugality blog.

    I don't think that is cheap, i think it is smart. I have been in this niche for a long time, and this is just smart way of shopping, i have been promoting cashback for a long time, and when i see people spending money without using it, i simply shocked as how much money are they burning a way by not doing 1 more click.

      I keep an ad running all the time. Yesterday I bought $900 in Walmart cards and the day before a $209 Target card. I got Walmart for 75% and the Target for 70%. I'm just going to flip the target card, as I don't really ever shop there and I can get 87% for it. So that's $259 for what was less than an hour of my time.

      I went through a dry patch for a little while, as my ads where constantly getting flagged., which is a real pain. Finally I just started not having any problems. I have had this problem before, where I go through spurts of constant flagging and then it stops for a decent amount of time.

      I also found that I could post an ad and lets say it had "gift cards/store credit" in it. I would write giftcards/storecredit and then the next day I would edit it and add the spaces in and it would take longer to get flagged.

      These days you could actually make a modest living out of it, as it's much easier to flip cards then when I first started buying them. Where back then, I would only buy cards I would use. Now I will buy anything, as long as I can flip it. However, it would be work to try and make a living from it and I'm happy just doing it as a hobby.
