What's the best time to post to your blog?

Hey Warriors, I was wondering when would be the best time to post to your blog? I usually try to do it first thing in the morning to catch the most eyeballs. But, I just wanted to see what you warriors thought about it. What do you think is the best time to post to your blog to catch the most viewers. Let me know. Thx.

    Personally I don't think it matters as long as you are consistent and chose your day/days/time and then as your blog becomes more noticed by blog hopping, guest posting your readers will become aware of the day and time you publish your new post.

    Let people know when you intend on publishing, be consistent and stick to that day or days, I'm not sure time is as important and you will get followers as long as you are writing good content.

      Well said mate cause timing doesn't really matter as long as you're posting consistently. Is quite different if you're sending newsletters out to your readers and updating them about your latest post.

    you need to take cognisance of your preferred audience. if your preferred audience is say tier 1 countries like USA, AUSTRALIA, CANADA, UNITED KINGDOM. you need to do a little maths to set the timing to say 10:30am. that's the best timing for receipt of mails.

    It depends on your market and what you are trying to accomplish.

    When I had my MMORPG site running hard, I would post new content on Friday mornings. 80% of my traffic visited between Friday morning and Sunday night.

    FYI, earth has more than one timezone.

    Kind of makes the whole best time to post meaningless, unless you're a local business that only cares about one GEO location.

    If you're linking your publication timing to your social media accounts, check your stats to find the time window where there's maximum content engagement. Even if you're not using social media autopublishing of your new posts, pay attention to your stats regarding engagement timing.

    Otherwise, it shouldn't matter. Seriously.

    Something else to consider is when you promote your content. To me it is more important to promote the content at the right time than to post it at the right time. I want to promote my content when my audience is on Facebook the most etc.

    Also, as someone else has mentioned being consistent with your posting schedule can be helpful because people will know when to expect new content. Even if they don't view it when it goes live they will know when it is available and they can check it when its good for them.

    Most of the time, I post at the morning. So you can post your blog to your targeted audience time zone first time or, morning. So you need to careful about your targeted audience Time zone or , GMT/ PST. Thanks a lot.

    You can post it anytime you want. Some readers are at work in the morning. Some go to work in the afternoon. Some work on the weekends. So it's impossible to reach everybody at once. Just keep the content great, and your followers will come back to read more info when they're ready.

      Especially F & B industries , etc

      they operate in 24 hours...

      thus bound to have some folks surf net and are around.

    Depends on what side of the equator you live in! If you live at least 20 nautical miles north of the Equator then I would post at 3:00 am and if you live within 20 nautical miles south of the Equator, I would post at 7:00 am.

    There is no hard fast rule for this one, you will need to take a look at where a majority of your visitors are based geographically and when they are most active on your site.

    Oh it matters, oh it does matter. There is although no one rule fits all in this situation, since everyone has their own different audience. When you post a blog you must be able to see the times that users open and read your posts. What I did with some of clients' blogs and email marketing was to run tests in couple of months. Posting various times of the day and week and compared analysis. This comparison helped me to find the best time for each and make the most of it every time I post.

    I would say that anytime is a "great" time
    to post to your blog, as it's the long term
    effect of your blog post is the real benefit.

    Sure, you may pin point the best time to post
    for the sake of readers in that moment, but
    I think I would rather have a post with
    excellent SEO to attract search engine visitors
    for months (and sometimes years) to come.

    Of course, that post should have evergreen content
    to attract valuable traffic over the long term.

    Anyone else agree or disagree?

    I think the issue here comes down to the idea that to the OP, it seems a post is a "fire and forget" kind of thing you do once and never look at again.

    But we've all seen blog experts remind us again and again that while some of your time should be spent writing your blog, most of your time should be spent promoting it.

    This means promoting your post on several occasions by sharing it through social media.

    This gives you the opportunity to use different hooks at different times to different audiences. I have readers in the UK who are well along in their afternoon by the time I've reached mid-morning, and Pacific coast readers who are still asleep by the time I've fired up with a couple cups of coffee and wonder, "Why the heck isn't everyone else here along with me?!"

    So have a promotion plan for your posts. Think about different potential audience segments you may have, and what focus they may be most interested in when it comes to your latest post.

      Thx for all the excellent ideas. I try to blog at least once a day. And, yes I do promote through social media of course. I also do SEO with a plugin on my site. I think morning is a good time as well as after people get off work from what I have gathered here.

      I like Jason's advice. Spend the majority of your time promoting your blog post and it will not matter what time you publish it because you will be driving new traffic 24 hours a day eventually anyway.

        More important than time of day is posting when you have something worthwhile to say.

        Posting purely for slavish adherence to a s schedule tends to lead to uneven post quality at best. And piles of digital manure at worst. Neither is particularly good for your image, reputation or business.

        As others have mentioned, timing your promotions for the times when your won audience is most likely to engage is much more important than timing the actual post. If that were not so, then any post would have a maximum shelf life of a few hours at best.

        And we all know (I hope) that going back and promoting the best of your past content from time to time can work very well...

    The morning is probably a good idea though I doubt it matters too much. Post times have an effect on social media because the post gets lost in the stream pretty quickly after it is posted, though your blog post will be available on your homepage for a good amount of time.
