How to find a genuine business partner.

I live down under have developed a product / service and now need to find some people to act as a sole distributor geographically based by country.
I need direction in how to find a genuine trading business partner to act as a retailer both online and retail.
What advertising or listings are available in the USA, Asia, UK ?
I need to connect with some one that has some marketing and sales skills, with tenacity to back themselves with a turnkey business.
Any sugestions?

You might want to try Craigslist. A lot of people knock it, but you can find some super sophisticated salespeople there, and people looking on craigslist are actively looking for an opportunity that is "more" than just a job when it comes to the sales section at least.

Looking at Craiglist listings mean having to repeat a post in every state or country which would mean spamming the system, that might not go down to well? I will take a further look into using it.
    Thank you.

All of my business partners have been people I knew and worked with before doing business with them

Bit hard to do this from the side of the world, I am just trying to find someone that I can work with. I just want someone that is willing to put some time to give it go there is no upfront cost to them except their time and skill set.
      It is a turnkey situation.

LinkedIn is just a profile and hard to get to the right people as sending an unsolicited message might not be received well.

I am not expecting a Joint Venture “A joint venture (JV) is a business agreement in which the parties agree to develop, for a finite time, a new entity and new assets by contributing equity. They exercise control over the enterprise and consequently share revenues, expenses and assets.”
As I don’t want an investor as there is no equity on offer.

You build a network of connections and use that network to get hooked up

Also, there are groups at linkedin much like FB groups

There must be a magazine or web listing that I can advertise on?

Your best bet would be LinkedIn

    Why?

You'll get EXPERIENCED partners instead of flakes who 'think it would be great to enter into a JV" but end up FLAKING at the first sign of DIFFICULTY.

Real business can be a STRUGGLE.

You need a partner who knows the ropes.

When it comes to finding a business partner, you have to look at it like a marriage.

Many, if not MOST, partner arrangements eventually fizzle out and the individuals go their separate ways. Often, the breakup isn't pretty.

It's better to work with someone you know, because in the beginning stages, the main asset you'll have between the two of you is the relationship of trust built prior to the business arrangement.

Dealing with a total stranger? That's not coming from a position of trust at all.

Anyone can pretend to be someone else just to get what they really want.

I'd recommend you distribute your own offering until you've done so many sales that people start to hunt YOU down for business partnerships. Then you have more leverage, and at that point you may not even want to partner (i.e. split your money 50%) with anyone else.

Real business partners are as mentioned above difficult to find and when things don't go the way you hoped, meaning you may have had unrealistic expectations of what the process would be, then making the right choices and executing the right contracts is definitely in your best interest.

These days people mistake affiliate relationships for a joint venture.

A joint venture has nothing what so ever to do with an affiliate and or commission job.

      Hi Jim,

I wonder if you managed to make a progress with your search for partners?
I am looking for partners abroad as well, also in Australia. Maybe we can help each other? Maybe I could find a partner for you in my country and you could find a partner for me downthere?

Please PM me with more info and your contact.

      Kind Regards

Do you have any friends with any relevant business skills/acumen?

I work closely with someone I went to high school with that isn't a business admin grad or anything like that, but what he DOES have is a lot of intangible qualities that definitely cross over. He is an incredibly patient person who is great at working with all types of personalities. He is creative and flexible and moves quickly on his feet. All of these quality's he brings to the table contributes a heck of a lot to my own online business building efforts.

You might not always find someone that meets your needs, but your local chamber of commerce can be a great way to meet business owners in your area. Even if you don't find the partner you are looking for you can befriend them and maybe gain access to someone that they know that fits the bill.
