I use freebooksy in my promos. That is to promote a free book or a series. OK so the price varies. It goes from $40 for a horror novel to $200 for a romance series. I am getting read to push several books in October that are kind of scary. Do wonder about vampires. Like do they fall under the religion or horror genre.

    Forum-based promos work as well

Reverse engineering how other Kindle books in your niche are being promoted on Twitter can help too.

You'll need a VA for either of these. Thankfully, they are quite cheap.

PRO TIP: If you have a number of books on Kindle, use your first page to advertise your mailing list. Get people to sign up on your list so you can promote your new books to them.

You should try Facebook ads! If you choose correct audience, you can get very low cost clicks, views, visitors....

I'm assuming it's ok to post this link as you did ask for links: Goodreads Guru

freebooksy and FB ads are very effective. However, its all too easy to spend a fortune on FB if your ad isn't targeted properly. You'll have to split test a few ads with image and copy variation to find out with one gives you the best cost per click. With FB the motto is test, test ,test!

I've done limited marketing and have launched pen names that are still making 10k a month on auto-pilot. Paid advertising is really only *required* if you are launching a new pen name and don't have an existing readers base. If that's the case, focus on FB ads, and newsletter advertising. Depending on your genre, MyRomanceReads.com is always reliable for a great boost, as is TheNaughtyList. Freebooksy used to be effective, but we've all seen quite a decline in the amount of exposure they're able to provide.

But above all, start with building your readers base through social media, and newsletters. Create your own FB group, build an ARC list. Not only will you never have to worry about paid advertising again, but you'll have your very own army of readers who will push your book launch, drive traffic to it from their own blogs and websites, and jack up your ranking with reviews on launch day.

Solid advice. Quick question: what is an "ARC list"?

Advanced Review Copy list. Start a FB group, make it private so that people can see the group, but need to receive permission to join it, and start adding in readers from within your genre. Use InstaFreebie.com to deliver review copies of your upcoming (or live) books. I do this every time I release a book and I always get a ton of reviews.
