Need Delivery Method For Digital Products

Hi everyone.

I have a WordPress site with a store. I have an ebook available for sale, payment goes through paypal. I have a program I would like to offer through my store as a digital download (currently the program is hosted through Jigsaw Box). The program consists of several audios and worksheets.

My website developer said I can't offer the program through my website. I'm not sure why. Maybe because it's too large to offer as a single download, unlike my ebook.

I don't know whether there is a plugin I should consider for storing my program (and any future ones I create), or whether I should consider a third party option such as ejunkie.

Any insight you can give is appreciated!

    I would look into Amazon S3. They are cheap and you only pay for what you use.

    Size should not be an issue (no naughty joke intended).

    Use a drip delivery plugin like Digital Access Pass, or deliver it as a set of modules using Moodle.

    I would look into Amazon S3.
    This gets my vote. They also have a free usage tier dependent on several factors. I've used them for several years and have never been charged yet.

    I recommend Payloadz.com. Perfect solution, low transaction fee and instant download once your buyers pay via payment. Can handle affiliates too so perfect for your requirements.

      Take a look at www.GumRoad.com if you are not doing a large number of sales. 5% plus 25 cents per sale with no monthly or any other fees.

    Files hosted as media on the website can be easy to find through google searches.

    You can turn all the files into a single zip file.

    For free, you can use Dropbox. Paste the download link into your Paypal button's destination field.

    That's not as pretty as having everything listed on a web page, though.

    You can also keep all the files listed separately, on a pdf you provide as the download link following payment. So the buyer gets this pdf with download links in it.

    There are other options, like a password-protected page (though that doesn't protect your media files) you give the password to the buyer via pdf again, or membership site which locks things down a bit better.

    Hey All!

    Thanks so much for your replies. I looked at Amazon S3 and I'm sure it's great but I can't make heads or tails of it. Elastic Transcoder? CodePipeline? Device Farm? SNS? Sounds like something for developers. What I'm trying to say is I'm not a techie, and Amazon S3 looks very confusing to me. I can't even figure out their pricing.

    So, I'm considering two options. First, using a plug-in like zippy courses that would offer my program through my site. The second option would be to use something like Ejunkie or Payloadz that would offer my program through their site. Right now my program is hosted on Jigsaw Box, but I'm paying $500.00 a year for it and I really don't have enough sales yet to justify the cost. My website is still new.

    What would be the advantage of using something like Payloadz over using a plug-in like zippy courses and vice versa?

    So your programmer is telling you that you can't create a Paypal link that redirects back to your download after payment? That doesn't make any sense.

    You could sell it through ClickBank and then you might end up getting some affiliates pushing it for you if you give them some tools to use. CB would hold and transfer the file for you plus you get a bunch of other stuff

    Imamarketer2, in my opinion the best solution at your problem is www.payhip.com
    They have relative cheap fees (5%), and you get the money from your ebook in few minutes after sale. You must upload everthing on payhip website, get the product(s) link, insert intro your site. The buyer click on the banner, and can pay trough credit card/paypal. After sale, payhip send you the money by paypal in few minutes. I think that will solve your problem.

    I too find S3's jargon completely off-putting. Learning new terms is something I do all the time, but there is such an abundance of it there I just shake my head and go elsewhere.

      Jason Kanigan - That's a great idea! I'm not the one to do it though. Maybe someone else already has. Youtube maybe? But I hear ya! Not enough hours in a day. I just want to get my stuff online.

      Thanks everyone for your replies! Here's something else I'm thinking - right now my course is not a download. A student goes into the Jigsaw Box platform and listens to the audios from there. They can download the worksheets. They also answer questions and the answers remain on the Jigsaw Box platform. The advantage for me of all this is that I can see what the students are using from the program, and view their answers to the questions that remain on the Jigsaw Box platform. I would not have this advantage with a fully downloadable program.

      Another advantage is that my audio files are protected because nobody can download them. This isn't a huge concern for me, however, with my particular audience.

      So, I guess I really need to decide if I want to continue to offer this more like a course on a coaching platform (Zippy Courses would allow me to do this but I would need another website because after doing some research I found it won't integrate with my main website - which is weird considering my mail website is a WordPress site).

      The alternative would be to offer this program as a complete download. I have thought about using ClickBank and I'm going to look into that further.

      I don't like Ejunkie. I don't like the interface.

    EJunkie or Clickbank come to mind for this.

    I'm not certain, though I am pretty sure that the Wordpress plugin WooCommerce can deliver digital products after purchase.

    Someone already mentioned Gumroad but there's also https://sellfy.com/
    and JVZoo... and tons more options online...just Google something like "sell your digital files" or "sell digital downloads free" for the easiest options.... and there's many platforms that will host your files for you and all you need to do is set the price and copy n paste your code into your salespage.

    Amazon Web Services, is the most affordable and offers the most robust download services on the planet, but there is a huge problem with AWS.

    It is run by a bunch of NERDS, most of which talk in a language that only "they" understand, the documentation is often difficult to comprehend, disconnected from normal language by using Jargon that is incomprehensible to the average person.

    So, Yes, its a real down side, basically speaking they have chosen to remain in a state of antipathy for the average user, (translation) you can basically get free usage if your a small fish in a big pond.

    But if your a giant corporation using tons of resources your bill might be $50,000.00 per month or more, but for the average person its around $5.00 per month.

    I would break up the product into smaller chunks, serve it up in a desktop app or a mobile app, so they can play it when ever they want, without an internet connection.

    (if its an audio or video and audio, or some other format)

    Also with digital technology you can significantly reduce file sizes, depending on the audio needs you have, (video too) there are a ton of products that connect to Amazon, its not rocket science though you might think so by all the confusing methods that AWS has chosen to employ. Their ignorance is your gain...

Can you point me in a direction of where I can get some information? I know little to nothing about apps or how they work. But this would be good for my audience, I think, and might even help boost sales.

    Amazon S3 can be intimidating for non techie.

    Surprisingly, you can get pretty cheap storage service from dropbox and mediafire.com. They are much more user friendly than S3. You might want to check them out.

      DesignHackz - I thought about dropbox. I have a free account with them. So, let's say someone comes to my site, goes to my store and clicks the buy button for my product. They pay via paypal. What happens after that? Paypal gives them a download link? And that link connects to drop box? If so, would my files be protected? I'm trying to connect the dots with this one. Thanks!
