How do people promote their kindle books these days. Do free days with massive promotion to ensure many downloads still work?

    Generally, when someone launches a kindle book, they have a profound understanding of the topic they are writing about and are an authority on the topic.

    A good way to leverage this position is to approach blogs, podcasts and other outlets and offer interviews in return for a mention of the new book.

    Amazon markets kindle books as well. The approach I would use is to build up a pre-launch list. Give them a sneak peek of the book for free in exchange for their email address. When they enter their email address take them to a launch page for the book, telling them when the book will be released and tell them you will give the first 100 buyers a bonus when you launch.

    Send out a few emails leading up to the launch, and let them know the day before and launch day that you have launched. You will get sales that day and AMAZON will take notice to that which will put you in the top 10 or whatever giving you more FREE promotion on amazon kindle.

    You can also do a press release on your launch day as well.

    Twitter plans to go beyond its iconic 140 char limit, so that is good news. Right now the 140 limit does not include links, but my book desc is small in size. Fire off tweets during a free book give away. I use twitter to do kindle promos. Maybe they can add some moving pics.

    I have done the free days with massive promotions but it has never led to many sales afterwards. Would love to hear what other peoples experience is.

    Depending on the niche, you can try using Facebook Fan pages sending out Picture quotes with a link to your mailing list's squeeze page

    The 'secret' is to use this system to MARKET to the social circles of your page's fans. The more they share, the greater your list's potential base of subscribers.

    You sell your books through your list.
