Hello everyone

I am trying to start my own brand line of certain products, but I have few questions. I would like to establish a cool international brand and I would be pimarly selling products on amazon and ebay.

So I wanna make sure my brand name and design is awesome

What would you recommend me to pick as a brand name? Like some people use their name like Louis Vuitton and others, some pick name that makes some connection with them, etc...

So what would be the best to pick as a brand name?

Google "how to pick a brand name".

All the work has already been done.

    However...

I think most of that is BS.

And I'm pretty sure you're on the wrong track.

You don't "make sure your brand name and design is awesome" FIRST.

Figure out what you stand for, first.

What you want people to remember about your brand.

No one can answer these questions for you, and if they do like in a focus group, that ends up weakening your brand.

Get a solid foundation of values together first. THEN you can build a brand on top of that.

Right now I see empty air.

    Flatulent Banana.

The aim of a brand name is to distinguish goods and services from the competition and communicate a core message to the target audience. You might for instance wish to enter the market for bananas and communicate with a brand name your unique selling proposition in order to distinguish your product within the market and thus attempt to carve out an appropriate share of that market. There is, as an example, a market demand for bananas. Some people have them on or with a sandwich for lunch, others slice them up and scatter them on their Froot Loops, a minute proportion even use them for quite unmentionable means. They are, in short, a product with a rather diverse range of end uses. What you might want to do is use genetic re-engineering to cross garden variety bananas with monkey bottoms and the resulting product would be a banana with flatulence and perhaps a ground-breaking means of making Froot Loops even more entertaining. Flatulent Banana would therefore be the ideal name to distinguish your product and indeed communicate the core message. To take things a step further, you could even devise a slogan.

Flatulent Banana: "Toot Toot on ya Froot Loops!"

However! On the slim chance that you are not in fact producing a ground-breaking and indeed wind breaking banana, kindly tell us about your product and or service and the great minds of Warrior Forum will gladly put their heads together.

Thank you both very much for all the great replies.

I already sell 1 of my designs and now I would like to establish brand and design and sell more products.

        OK, these things are ACCESSORIES.

Now rather than creating a jumble of cheap crap under the Accessory umbrella, what can you inject into the design of these things that unifies them and the experience of seeing, handling and using them in your customer's mind?

        Apple does this well.

That is a great question. What I was thinking is creating something that would represent my brand like adidas has 3 lines, gucci has their colors and design accessories with that in mind. But what that would be Im not really sure yet. Would I put logo on each item or jsut pick colors...

Apple = great design, user experience.

Virgin Airlines = fun on your flight.

Jeep = will get you to the top of the mountain. (But NOWHERE does it say it'll do it comfortably! Take note!) Youth.

Cadillac = comfort & style (the opposite of Jeep in many ways.) Experienced, relaxed.

Cocoa Puffs, Lucky Charms, and many other cereals = fun and ENERGY (though sugar-fueled energy) with breakfast.

Cheerios, Kellogs Corn Flakes = (quite the opposite) solid breakfast, healthy.

    Some ideas for you.

      xDrove,

Before you worry about branding, I would suggest you concentrate your efforts on your core business. From the sound of your questions, I don't feel that you have a good grasp yet of exactly what your are going to do and how you'll do it.

Is there demand for your idea and how will you meet that demand?

What does your audience look like and where will you find them?

What products are you going to focus on and have you researched the competition?

What is your business model and how will you execute it?

What are your marketing and selling channels and how will you fund your business entry into those markets?

What kind of selling system/funnel are your going to use?

How are you going to source your materials or finished products? And how are you going to deliver your products to your customers?

You see, all these questions and more need to be addressed as they will have direct impact upon your business positioning. Branding is a marketing issue and that comes after you have established the very core of exactly what you are going to do to make money.

Hello, and thanks again everyone for reply.

There is demand, I can see people buying custom cases all the time.

People who use phones, basically everyone. I will advertise on forums and ask local shops to sell my products. Also amazon and ebay.

At first I would like to focus on phone cases (iPhone and Samsung)

        Selling on amazon and ebay.

I will get products through alibaba suppliers.

Can you please tell me if that looks good or would you suggest something or maybe correct me?

        Thanks.

First let me say that joining the herd to sell "Hot Sellers" is hardly the way to go to establish your own brand.

Second, you will be hard pressed to get a deal on Alibaba that will put you in a position to make reasonable profits in such an extremely competitive market. The main reason is that you will almost certainly be dealing with traders on Alibaba falsely claiming to be manufacturers. To maximize profits on any product you must buy direct from the real manufacturer.

I have taught hundreds of people how to do it. If you want some help on the sourcing and importing side of things you might like to check out my thread: Ask Me Anything About Product Sourcing And Importing For Profit. ― Veteran Importer Here.

Some awesome brands are just the name of the person who started the company. It's quick, it's easy and it's unique.

I work in an offline business and I think we get sucked into logo design and branding a bit too much for a small, local business. I try to remember what Drayton Bird said something like... the biggest brands have the most customers. The point, focus on getting more customers and not the brand.

    Hello I'm studying Commercial Economics.
And to be honest the answer isn't that easy. If you would like to get a trending brand you should use something which is a really "Cool" at that moment. You should think about a new song, like there was a song in The Netherlands called: Drank & Drugs. So what did some smart marketeers, they wrote Drank on the Milkbottles and Drugs on the Foodbox (those are for children to take to school)

Making a realy good brand name without a hype is for some random person realy hard to do.

    Be creative, funny or trending!

    Good luck
