How To Rank You Tube Videos

I have been looking to free traffic to get visitors to my site and so far of all the free methods that i have researched it seems one can get very highly targeted quality traffic from Youtube.

I would like to start using videos for my advertising, and my question is what do i need to do in order to rank my videos for maximum viewing.

    Hi,

There are many ways that you can get ranked.

    1) At first you should choose low competition niche so you can get ranked easily.
    2) Try to make your headline, discription of video SEO friendly. Use your main keywords in heading and description, in Tags.
    3) Get some quick backlinks, likes, views, comments, sharing. To get backlinks you can use service like Fiverr.com where you can buy backlinks. You can join sites which exchange likes and views. Just Google and you will find such sites.
    4) Use your video at your blog so it will get ranked in Google (I am not saying Youtube) search.

    Hope this will help you.

Mr Pradeep said the best statement. If you can do these steps, you will get good traffic. You need to use the name, Description, tag features. If you choose the common name, description & tag the user will be able to touch to your video easily. By which your videos traffic will increase automatically. Thanks.

Have you tried "solo ads"? That's a wonderful way of advertising... It's been effective for years. You need to build a list but it works so far

    Good luck!

With due respect, if you don't know have any idea of doing promotion of YouTube Video. Then its better that you don't make such baseless comments about the future of internet marketing.

I was poking fun at EugeneDM's sig file if you look at the post above mine.

With that said, I do know a little something about youtube marketing.

One channel I've had for a couple of years as a little pet project outside of the MMO niche has 212,236 total views and 1836 subscribers as I write this from only 13 videos.

The view count for any one video ranges from 1027 views to 89,293 views. And it's not just the newest video having the lowest view count and the oldest having the highest.

I haven't posted a video to this channel in about 6 months, yet I still average just under 400 views per day.

I attached a screenshot of analytics from this particular channel below.

With that said, what has worked for me is very basic:

        - Use the keywords you want to rank for in your title, description, and tags
        - Use similar keywords of other videos already ranking and with high view counts for the same topic of your video.
        - Provide value in your videos.
        - As far as revenue generation goes, make sure you add a call to action in the video both verbally and physically using annotations (especially if you can use custom annotations that are clickable to your own website/landing page)
        - Also put a call to action and link in your description (at the top) to wherever you want them to go.
        - Encourage discussion because that helps your ranking.
        - If you want to make money with their Youtube Ads publisher platform, it won't be worth it until you're getting thousands of views a day in most cases.

I also recently invested $10 in Get More Views from Adam Linkenhauer and got some good extra tips from them as far as keyword/topic/title research and use of annotations is concerned.

        Hope this helps

Well yes the points you mentioned are the most important, but if someone wish to make their video viral or to say if a client wants to make its channel popular in a very less time, then what can be done apart from these basics?

At one time Google looked at the links going to your video, but those days are so over. Right now they focus on the number of minutes people spend viewing. Make sure that your videos are interesting to keep your captive audience glued to the screen.

Things that use to work years ago:

    • keywords in description
    • ratings - remember five stars?
    • keyword in title
    • views
    • tags
Please were buying fake views. Google took action and that strategy does not work any more. Best to create an awesome video people will share on social media.

      This is what I do

      1) COLLECTING A BUCKET OF KEYWORDS

Tools I use for this; Keyword planner (to look for the seed Keyword)
Google/Youtube auto complete search bars(Urbersuggest will make this easy)
Google/Youtube Trends ( Be informed on what is trending on your niche)
Q&A websites( helps to get into the head of your targetted audience)

      2) CREATING THE RIGHT TYPE OF VIDEO
Now the type of video will depend on what niche you are targeting so I will not go into that.
      But here is a tip
      -How to Videos
      -Review videos
      -Sports related type of videos
all do extremely well on youtube.

      3) FOLLOWING YOUTUBE QUALITY VIDEO METRICS
      Youtube uses a set of metrics to determine the quality of a video which together helps with the ranking of Youtube rankings video. This includes;

      Retention views
      Comments
      Shares
      Favorites
      Subscribe

There are many tips and tricks that you can use to easily achieve these metrics.

After doing all that and you video is still not ranking then it most be a difficult keyword. For such keywords you can start adding to the above tips by building links to the video but do not over do it and try to use variation of the youtube links

      I hope this was helpful.

This is exactly what I would recommend. Upload a video a day. After doing it for awhile you will get good at it, you will also have a steady stream of traffic coming from your videos.

At the end of videos make sure you have a call-to-action where you tell your viewers to go and check out your website (preferably a squeeze page to build your list).

There are tons or resources both on google and youtube that will explain all of this.

To be successful whether its online or offline for your business you need to set a budget and invest in your business. Free traffic is just going to give you a free ride and your really not going to grow as a business. At least not right away you won't.

Seobro gave some good advice, as did Boris Qs

Another tip, in each video you post on YouTube, simply ask the viewers to like, share, subscribe or leave a comment under the video.

You would be surprised how effective this can be and a lot of people don`t even ask for viewers to do these things. "If you don`t ask, you probably won`t receive."

Here's a short article about a concept I've been telling about concerning ranking videos on Youtube and Google. It talks about how Google has filed a patent for "Watch Time". What is interesting is the patent seems to include the PAGE watch time too and not just the video watch time.

What this likely means is Google/YT is encouraging not only watch time on videos, but YT PAGES that get the most interactivity. Viewers that post comments on your videos probably spend more time on the video page than those that don't post comments.

If accurate, it's probably a good idea to think of YT as more of a social site than simply a video site and to interact with those that comment on your videos. And if you have your comments turned off, you may want to turn them on.

It also seems that watch time is more important than views.
    https://cielo24.com/2015/08/new-goog...rch-algorithm/

To add a bit to this...a good Youtube strategy is to always be the first person to comment on your own videos. One, to add an important keyword or two, as the words used in comments can help determine relevancy.

Two, ask a question to encourage other people to comment. The more comments you get, the longer people will stay on your video page to read them and the more likely they are to respond to a comment.

It has become very difficult to rank Youtube videos in recent times, the competition is so fierce that even if you rank your video, there is some jealous persons out there who will flag your video just get you out of the way. So the lesson here is not to try to rank for competitive keywords but go for long tail keywords with little or no competition.

    -Affiliate Link
    -Keyword optimized description
    -Longtail keywords
    -Keywords in tags

Someone earlier said it was hard to rank Youtube videos these days. I am not convinced of that. Tyronne mentioned pre-upload SEO, which is a very good idea - editing the properties (on a windows PC) to include your URL once, your title, etc - don't over do it) is a great start.

Assuming your on page SEO (titles, description, a few good tags) is in place, I would then be throwing a truck load of good links at it.

Yes! there are some very bad advice in here.

What people do not realise is that long tail works better these days, but if you are relying on keywords in 2015 - 2016 and only that, prepared to get kicked in the nuts.

What google is after these days, has little to do with KEYWORD STUFFING, ....and more to do with awesome, and amazing content people want to share on their high traffic blogs.

People who want to connect, will share good quality stuff, or viral quality stuff.

You can also go to the top 10 blogs in your niche and ask them to post on their site, I normally say I will pay them $20 and they are happy to do this. That is the blog owners.

IN the $120 USD I have paid for this, our video ended up going viral and has had over 900,000 view. Infact its close to a million views now. You cannot do that with SEO......

So work smarter, not harder in 2016. These strategies work wonders for us, and hopefully they will help you also.

    Video Length

The more seconds you can keep a user on your video, the higher it will rank. Therefore, having longer videos will add more seconds to your count.
In YouTube’s mind, anything less comes off as spam. The longer your video, the more content (i.e. better user experience).

    Video Name

Right click on your video and select "Get Info".
Add tags related to your video's keywords and synonym keywords.
Name the file based on your main keyword and secondary keywords (ex: How to Rank YouTube Videos - Ranking Videos in Google - Webris).
Add some comments about what the video is about.

This is because youtube don't know about what your video is, so do your homework before your uploadd the file.

    Video Description

Aim for at least 200 words.
Use synonym keywords throughout your description.
Don't use the same keywords twice - you will get slapped for keyword stuffing.
I generally write a transcript of the video. This can be time consuming, so I generally contract this out to freelancers on Fiverr.

    Create a Playlist

Playlists are the final piece when uploading a new video. They add another layer of signals to tell YouTube what your video is about.

    Custom Thumbnails

Optimize Your Channel Page (Channel art, Links, Description, Subscribe etc.)

    Push to Social Platforms

    Build Links and Embed

One thing that I often do is create a "poke" video. A short video that does not take a lot of time to make just to see if it will rank. If it does, I create a longer/more informative one. Saves a lot of time in the long run.

I also create and rank videos for businesses in my area. They are easier to rank for and I get paid instantly and then recurring to keep the video ranked.

I have found that being consistent, creating and uploading good, quality videos daily, is the best way rank videos.

Everyone already said pretty much what I was about to say. Anyway, about backlinks I am not so certain they are totally useless. The fact is I've saw time after time guys with small channels ranking their videos in the first position of Youtube in a very oddly way.

When I check their video backlink profile they had tones of them coming from awkward websites. I believe backlinks still have some impact on your video. You can easily get them from fiverr gigs.

Make sure to find low hanging fruit. What I mean is find long tail keywords in your niche that have low competition that you can go after.... These will be easier to rank for and get the wheels spinning. Also, make sure that you pick the proper tags, a good keyword rich description, and a link in the top of your description... Also depending on your niche, you may need some views, likes and backlinks. All these things can be done for cheap with fiverr.... Just look for people with high ratings, and get real views, not bots or clicks.... You want retention views.. Also, make the description just like an article with 200-400 words... Build up your youtube channel. Now remember, anything can happen, so spread your videos across several channels, just in case you ever lost an account. Hope these things help.
