I thought ebay banned this long ago...

At some point many years ago, ebay banned selling ebooks or any download products.

Now, it seems digital downloads are NOT banned.

What's the deal?

You are going to have search this one out carefully, but if I remember correctly, this is not a simple "wham-bam you got it as you pay" matter. I think this has to do with offering something like a real book sent out and the option to download as well.

I haven't used eBay in a very long time; I was just trying to sell a few things I wasn't using, so I had no need to check out their policy on digital offerings. eBay got quite complicated and I had no real need to check out the changing rules and costs.

Have you tried any other sites like bonanza.com?

Yes, people did get around the ban by offering the physical product option -- but now I see people selling just plain digital download (only) products on ebay -- so I guess they lifted the ban.

I didn't see it on this list, although admittedly I only did a quick scan:

Fee bay did ban digital downloads years ago. This was great news for amazon. Kindle took off and it has been growing every year. Sadly, bad old fee bay keeps changing their game. Maybe they are allowing digital downloads now. However, I know why they had the digital download banned years ago. People used 99 cent downloads to increase their ratings and become power sellers, so here we are.

Digital items can still be sold on eBay. You just have to use the classified ad format and list it in the Everything Else category.

With the increased popularity of Cloud storage it looks like several ebook resellers are trying their hand at selling ebooks on Ebay.

I don't know if Ebay are OK with this . . . and I really don't have the time to check out their terms and conditions.

I have heard you can sell Ebooks and other digital products through Ebay classifieds ans a Everything Else category.

The next one says it is OK to sell Ebooks and digital products on Ebay just as long as you deliver them on a CD or DVD to the customer.

My guess is there are other options to selling ebooks on Ebay, but I don't find any confirmation by Ebay on any of these options.

Maybe folk are just chancing their arm in the hope they just get away with it . . .
