I've only dealt with some tried and true methods...which for me was email/list building...been out of the game...

Can I get an explanation on a few of these other traffic types?

Try making Youtube videos and ranking them and also buying solo ads? Solo Ads are a bit expensive but you get value for money.

There are many ways to generate traffic. Such as SEO, Forum posting, blog commenting, book marking, article submission, social media site or, some other ways like these. You can use any way, which you choose. Thanks

Not much has changed. If you plan to promote affiliate products, you should not put ads on those pages. The reason is because ads take the visitor away from your site. While you might make .30 for them clicking an ad on your site, it's possible you could have made ten times that amount (or more) if they would have stayed on your site and purchased a product because of your recommendation.

In terms of traffic methods, to get know the people in your niche, and learn how they find products. While using a keyword tool like the free Google keyword planner can be helpful, tools like this are usually a month or more behind when it comes to data collection. Using Google search can be helpful b/c it tells you what people are looking for right now. Social media is another big one - just find where the people in your niche are.

Forums and blog commenting also still work quite well. Just don't spam. Find the largest forum in your niche and hang out there. Not only can putting your link in your signature bring your traffic, but you can learn a lot about the people in your niche. When it comes to blog commenting, only put your url in the website url section, and make relevant comments. Don't forget that the best blogs are moderated.
