free simple membership wordpress plugin

Is there a good free wordpress plugin for to create a free membership site? I'm looking for a simple one that will restrict access to certain pages and has a login plugin for the sidebar.

Please, no posts about Wislist (I use this on one of my paid sites) and Memberwing. I'm just looking for some first hand experience with the free downloadable plugins available in wordpress.

    Try changing your search terms away from wordpress plugin to wordpress theme. You might find a theme that does what you want. It may or may not come with custom plugins that help it work.
