Making the most of a Customer List

The business I work with had been selling on Amazon and one of their top selling items has been removed. I was able to retrieve a customer list of of names, addresses, and phone numbers of all customers who purchased this item for the past 3 years. This list contains ~1,000 persons. How can I make the most of this list? Would cold calling be my best option. We currently have a website, but there is no option to purchase products through the website as my company deals mainly with larger orders from established businesses and selling through Amazon had been added value for them. I was thinking a simple cold call to a customer and making them aware of the situation, then redirecting any future purchases by calling or through email?

There is a simple question you need to ask yourself . . .

Did the people on the list give you their permission to contact them?

If not . . . the list probably won't be receptive to your offers and some will accuse you of spamming them. Your email host may also take action against you if they get complaints.

The relationship that exists between the list of customers and the old business most likely doesn't include you.

I think the answer is simple direct mail since you have their address. You could lead generate and get them to raise their hand for free information with a postcard, then send them a free thing that sells them a product. Then of course if they don't raise their hand, send them the free thing anyway even if they didn't ask for it.

Also, if there's no way to buy from the website, well you can't take their money without someone operating a cash register. So make a way for them to buy if you wanna direct them to the site. But since you have 1,000 names and pretty much they're yours, you can send them offers in the mail and there is no direct mail slap.

Email would be a different story and very, very likely less effective.

PS. Put a good "offer" together. What they get, what it will do for them, tease them with bullets, tell them the price and give them a reason why it's so good, a guarantee, stack some bonuses, do a deadline or other urgency.

    Ask for the order.

There's probably plenty of gold in them hills since you already know they're customers. Just treat them good.
