Wordpress, hands down. Once you have got the hang of it, it is far more versatile than Blogger. It is easy to customize, and has loads of different options for themes and styles. It also looks more professional.

I have to agree as well. Wordpress. Much more versatile. More professional and flexible. Best for self hosted as you have much more control.

    Hey

If you're thinking that WordPress is easy to set up than blogger or any other platform then it's a right thing to certain extent but a real webmaster is who has a great knowledge of SEO and can rank his site well in search engine. So, in my opinion whether you've a site on blogger or WordPress, it''s all about SEO and quality posts to your site.

I have been using the Blogger for a long time. I know the blogger is really easy to use. On the other hand the Wordpress is more customizable than the Blogger. So which one you will prefer? It fully depends up to you. The two sites has specific facility, so you can choose any one of them. Thanks a lot.

    It's not even a question.

I prefer WordPress. It's more than just a blogging platform these days, it's really a fully functioning content management system.

Membership sites, sales pages, download pages, you name it, it's easily accomplished using WordPress.

I use to prefer word press. However, those are hacked like every day of the year. Also, nerd press is as slow as all get on. Blogger is the one for me. Frankly, my blogger blog has never been hacked - not even once. Just remember to not have any posts that are pure spam.

WordPress... hands down without a doubt.

Why? Flexibility, quality of core code, huge amounts of plugins to add features and super fast to build out beautiful sites with thousands of free templates and premium templates to give your site a really nice custom look.

There are a ton of sites dedicated to WordPress development, tutorials, videos and forums to help you when you need it.

Plus... there is always the WordPress Codex... everything you need to develop in WP, enough documentation to make your head spin!

With self hosted WP you have the ultimate in control and can literally build anything you desire with WP as the core of your application.

I've been developing in WP for something like 10 or more years now, coding, site development, application development etc...

    WordPress simply rocks!

Without any doubt WP. It's way better than blogger, I don't know if this will be a good comparison, but WP is like Ferrari, and blogger is like a nice family car.

WordPress is many times better and powerful than blogspot.

Blogspot has low reputation compared to wordpress. When talking about self-hosted blog, people think that the person has paid for the service, and he is serious about his blog and business.
WordPress provides more options to optimize your blog for search engine where as in BlogSpot you are limited to certain settings.

WordPress makes your life easy using simple plugins for everything you need. By using plugins, you can achieve anything, and if not, you can take help of WordPress support forum to get custom code and extend the capabilities of your blog.
Even if you use the custom domain feature (Using your domain name ), chances are high that if spammers use feature Flag as spam and report your blog as spam. Google might remove your blog.

And a good thing about wordpress is that you can always resell it.

There are actually plenty of reasons why Wordpress is better than Blogspot.
It offers different themes that you can use for free.
There's a lot of things to learn when it comes to customizing your site.
Updates are always available, and many more..

There are a couple of reasons WP installs are fairly easy to hack.

One is that too many people rely on the push-button install using Fantastico. You end up with an install with easy-to-crack template database names and passwords.

Another is an infatuation with plugins. Too many people use plugins for everything, without knowing how secure they are. Then they don't worry if the plugins don't stay up to date with newer releases.

Kind of like buying an expensive bike, and locking it up with a dog leash and a dime store padlock.

Before you try it, spend a few minutes reading about how to install WP properly. Try googling the term "how to harden Wordpress".

Blogspot is owned by Google, and there are chances that they can delete your Blogspot account without giving you any warning. WordPress offers more options to optimize your blog for search engine where as in BlogSpot you are limited to certain settings. WordPress is blessed with features like plugin and a strong community to get support. WordPress makes your life easy using simple plugins for everything you need. Blogspot- One of the simple reason is its free, and mass number of people are using it for Blackhat SEO, spamming and for affiliate landing pages. BlogSpot offers many templates but due to the commercial nature of WordPress, you will find unlimited free and Premium WordPress themes. BlogSpot used to be the best way to get your AdSense account approved, but later on it’s becoming tough to get your Adsense account with BlogSpot. With WordPress and your domain email address, getting your blog approved is very easy. Google strictly doesn’t allow reselling of BlogSpot blogs, but the case is different here with the self-hosted blog. You can always resell your self-hosted blog. Buysellads doesn’t accept BlogSpot bloggers.

So, Wordpress is the king, seriously

    Definitely Wordpress!

The main reasons people like wordpress:

    1. It is an open source.
    2. More secure CMS.
    3. And the most loving thing about wordpress you can run it without any coding knowledge.

If we're talking about blogging of course.
    Blogger all the way.

Blogger is free to start with.
and is very very simple to use.
has everything integrated in one thing, without you installing or buying anything.

You might want a custom domain.
    but that's an other story.

Blogger is also great for creating landing pages.
    Just created one earlier today.

    Again, Blogger all the way

Most definitely self-hosted Wordpress hands down.

However, if the 'main keyword or name' is available in blogspot, weebly, webs, etc... for free, it doesn't hurt to create a few posts, and link them to the Wordpress site or to an offer.

If money is tight, or you don't feel like creating a sub domain, some of the free blogs can serve a purpose, but rarely will the results compare to a self-hosted website...with or without Wordpress.
