Best advice you ever had?

What was the best online advice you ever had?

Mine was to focus on one niche, one subject only.

From 1.000+ domains and small websites I went to one project.

Now I can focus 100% on that project

For me it was the best advice I ever got and turned my "one-man show" into a team of 10 dedicated works and offices in 2 different countries.

Focus on one niche, and do everything you can on that site. Dump all other methods.

Stop surfing Facebook, Twitter, and other non making money activities.

    Many receive advice...

But only the wise benefit from it.

    Also...

You're only old when you stop learning. (A crafty man from Denmark told me that... He built the railroads. Inside joke. Yet fascinatingly enough, entirely accurate).

    Never Give Up.

The only time you fail is when you decide to quit.

If it doesn't work find a different way to do the same thing and keep repeating until you do find a way that works.

Amr, that is actually excellent advice if you are serious about putting in the work required.

You can make a desk from a door and a couple of boxes. Keep your files in cardboard boxes.

But if your butt is sore and your back aches, you are not going to do your best work. There are a lot of places you can skimp by when starting a business. Your chair is not one of them. Get the best you can afford.

Best advice I ever received was from my mother:

Don't judge anyone until you have walked in their shoes.

(Tried that with my dad's shoes, but all I did was trip and bang my head on the coffee table, so the advice is given with a word of caution)

Never write anything down that you do not want aired in a court of law

These days that includes images, yeah?

Here are some of my own:

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,
but make sure you know what that means from their point of view.

Teaching can only be successful when done from the inside of the student:
If you don't know how your student thinks, you're words will fall on deaf ears.

there is never just 1 thing. here is a list of the quotes that have most influenced me in my life.....

"Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are."

"Consider the rights of others before your own feelings, and the feelings of others before your own rights. "

"Failure is not fatal, but failure to change might be."

"If you're not making mistakes, then you're not doing anything."

"Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out."

"You can't let praise or criticism get to you. It's a weakness to get caught up in either one. "

"You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you."

there is never just one thing.......

This turned into a really good thread!

The best advice I ever got was to stop making excuses and just do it.

No one is coming. It's up to you.

Stop trying to find a slightly better way.

Feel the fear and do it anyway.

    Fail your way forward.

What's the worse than can happen? Can you handle it?

Put the right message in front of the right market at the right time. Do that a lot.

    Focus on one thing.

    Reduce and eliminate distraction.

The best advice I have ever received, in terms of working online comprises of a few things...

    1. Be the boss.

    2. Provide a service or product that people simply cannopt live without.

    3. Have a monthly recurring payment option for members to get locked into paying.

Meeting the above criteria however, is easier said than done lol.

I have been in the process of putting together an offer that meets these 3 things, so over the next year or so we'll have to see what I can come up with

Never give up, a good idea takes sometimes time and to many people give up after some months/weeks and even days.

I have been online for over 20 years and the best advice I received was...

Everything you do online must in some way build your list.

I found that this was very easy to do and what I attribute my success to.

Another saying that I made up my self and has worked very well for me because I am an action taker...

Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today because if you like it, you can do it again tomorrow.

One thing that is guaranteed is success will never come if you do not do anything that will cause you to be successful.

    Best regards,

Become an expert in your field and find the experts in the fields outside of your skill. It's even the reason why I'm here : I'm not a marketer, but I'm looking for the best real marketer(s). I can play and learm about IM, but I think it will be never as efficient as finding a specialist in this domain. So, in brief, as you stated, a matter of FOCUS! We can't do all. We can't know all. So better to do one thing and develop one domain of skill and expertise...

If you don't fail, it means you don't learn and you stay on the level you know. And that means no progress what so ever.

Learning from mistakes is not easy, because most people like to blame others for their mistakes, but I agree. If you can learn from your mistakes, it will bring you to the next level.
