If you want a good laugh for the day, check this out.

A former employee managed to buy Google.com (the domain name) for $12.

Here is the story, with the ending you can probably guess:

Just think if it wasn't the employee who got lucky. Like winning the lottery.

Nah, if it wasn't an employee, Google would have just filed a complaint and had the domain seized. Whoever bought it would have spent $12 for many times that amount worth of hassle.

      Hi Jack,

It's good to see you back posting again on the WF. I have always enjoyed your wisdom and perspective. Got any new products coming out soon?

I think John is right . . . Google was never in danger of losing their domain due to an oversight or a glitch. They pretty much get whatever they want.

In fact, it drives home the point that as Internet marketers, it bodes well to stay on Google's good side. Google is your friend, even if you don't rely on them to send you traffic.

      Thanks for the thread,

      Steve

    Steve,

Yes, you and John are most certainly correct. I do think it's somewhat ironic that Google made a "reward" payment. Makes you scratch your head just a bit.

I've never personally purchased a domain from Google domains, but I'll bet they got that glitch fixed pretty quickly.

    All the best!
