Should I promote the 'free content'

I'm in the process of writing my email series and I'm planning to promote StoreCoach (the e-commerce website building course) but I'm unsure if I should promote the fact that the course has free content that can be viewed before any membership is purchased.

By promoting it I was thinking that some people may enjoy the videos enough to purchase the full product but then again offering free content may decrease the value for others purchasing the full course, its $199.

I have a 'buyers list' and 'freebie list', the people on the buyers list are those who purchased my OTO and the freebie list are those who just downloaded my free ebook. I was thinking that I could maybe promote the free content to those freebie seekers and only the paid version to the buyers?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

  • In my opinion, it is always better to offer a free or low priced offer first. Even your buyers list. But you can always split test and see which converts the best.

If you get a commission even if they signup for the free version and later they upgrade then go for it! It's a great thing to offer a free version first and later upsell with some better and improved product.

    Hi Halfsaint,
Honestly my friend, you should know your list better then any one in this forum... I don't know how you got your list and what value you have given them,

Does your list like and trust you....
How much like and trust between your list...

May be their are buyers in the freebie category but just haven't see the value yet,

The reason of these question are that if they got great value from you then they will not hesitate in investing in you again if they believe they will get more value...

The pricing does seem too high and the way I would suggest is, if you can get some front-end product in the same product and sell in low value price, any where between $5/$20...

If people start buying that then shows you they are interested and trust you so you can start offering more value of what your selling for higher price....
show them what is it that they will get and how they will benefit from it...

Remember people only invest in you and you will have to show them that this product or service you are offering is great and how they will benefit from it... They will take your words and recommendation if they do invest...

    GOOD LUCK...

The whole (marketing) idea of offering free information is so that your
prospect can get a (non-obligatory) taste of your paid stuff. So just
because someone opted in for free stuff doesn't mean they are not
interested in buying. So I'd say, promote to both list. Maybe those
who already bought may be more likely to buy, but maybe some
of those buyers were once "freebie seekers".

Structure the free content to upsell your paid stuff

    That's how it works

Simply promoting free content is NOT going to cut it no matter how hard you try

There has to be a SOLID connection between the free stuff and the paid materials/service.
