What i'm supposed to do with the website? Amazon Termination

I have a pretty big website where I review consumer electronics products (like headphones, TV screens etc). It receives about 300 visitors a day and was making nice amounts with Amazon affiliate program.

I got banned from Amazon Associates. Now, what can I do? Other websites that sell headphones for example - offer only 2-3% , compared to 4-6% on Amazon. Conversion rate won't be the same of course.

Do you have any suggestions ?

    What networks have you tried?

Commission Junction and ShareASale are both solid.

Not sure if VigLink is still active, or not. They helped banned people during Nexus. At most I think you'd get like 5% because they skim off the top, but you'd still be making money and sending them to Amazon.

I searched CJ and ShareASale but did not find any store
that sells headphones, tablets, LCD screens etc..

I prefer not working with VigLink or any similar company since
I again risk losing all my earnings. You can't just use VigLink if
Amazon terminated you, can you ?

Why did you get banned? Is the reason going to just get you banned from other programs?

Are you not able to fix the issue and ask for reconsideration?

I completely fixed the issue, asked for reconsideration but it seems like no one there can care less. I got the same answer (that the decision is final). The profits were HUGE, one day I wake up discovering i'm banned.

What can I do now ?

You could "flip" the site on Flippa, to someone that is a current Amazon Affiliate - if you can show earnings from the site, then it should be an easy sale....

AdSense, eBay, and Amazon sites seem to do well on Flippa, especially if they have a track record of earnings...

You don't need to state you've been banned from Amazon, just moving on to other things...

    Hope this helps...

I was thinking the same thing as well, that is if it was the owner that was
banned and not the website itself.

Go to the vendor sites and see if they have individual affiliate programs.

For example, google best buy affiliate program and sign up.

Commission junction has tons of electronic offers, sign up with different vendors through them. (newegg, sears, shopladder, brookstone etc...)

Yes, wAvision, I was surprised when the OP said there were no electronics on CJ. Even back in the day they had a goodly supply, and that's when they were just getting started. Some of my best sales commissions came out of Commission Junction.

Market4Keyword? Go back and take a closer look. I'm sure you'll find the right area.

AND, I always go to the vendor site first to see if they have their own affiliate program. So many do. I'm setting things up to open a blog. Finding good product suppliers is on my to-do list. Only one supplier had moved to CJ; I've chosen two large in-house affiliates that carry everything my viewers need.

Based on this, I'd guess that you have been banned, not just your single site. Your offense was one they've seen many, many times. It's also one that is easy to fix, get reinstated, then change back to the old way again.

Had you simply had an error on a single site, like changing themes and losing the affiliate disclaimer, you would have likely gotten a warning that you had [short times frame] to fix the issue or else.

As for the suggestion to form an LLC, unless you go through a lot of hoops to hide your identity, Amazon is still going to know who is behind it and simply ban the new account for cause.

Can you incorporate and use an LLC to create a new Associates account? ~$250 to bring back a profitable project?

If not, I'd get all the traffic and monetization data you've got for it and throw it onto Flippa like others have mentioned. Show them why you got banned and prove it's legit, buyers will line up for it.

A bar of iron cost $5. Made into horseshoes, it's worth $12. Made into needles, it's worth $3500. Made into balance springs for watches, it's worth $300,000. Your value is determined by what you are able to make of yourself

Thank you for the suggestion. If I will decide to so - I will mention the fact I was banned. I would not want to buy a website, without knowing the truth.

The problem is, all these affiliate programs only pay 1-3% and the conversion rate won't be nearly as high. But - if there is nothing that can be done - then something is better than nothing thank you for the comment.

I invested so much time building my website, I don't want to do again, and then discover the accounts were "linked" and i'm banned again. But thanks for commenting - I will look into that as well.

Use the same site and change over accounts. I'd think it is a small time and money investment for continued profits -- even if it's only a month? If you've already turned HUGE profit with the site, like you've said, consider it a tax writeoff and put it back into it.

It's what I'd do. Good luck with it. There's solutions out there if you keep looking.

Is it you or your website that got banned. You do not tell us why you got banned. The solution could be that you take on a partner who is not banned and split the profits from your website.

This is called a joint venture. You have a successful website but don't have the amazon credentials. Find someone who has amazon credentials and get then to promote your website to amazon like it is theirs.

You then split the profits at any proportion you both agree to.

This will only work if it you are banned and not your website. Else your partner will eventually get banned also.

I hope this has been helpful,

I can't just do it overnight. My website visitors buy branded products, and I don't think I can offer them hundreds of them.

You have a lot of options, such as:

    - Sell the site

    - Modify the products with products from a different affiliate network

    - Start anew and promote your own products

    - Monetize with Adsense or a similar program

why did you get banned? you can create another amazon account with diffferent info. if not interested in that idea, think about drop shipping. you wont have to edit much of your site if you can find the same product to drop ship or a similar product to dropship. if your site visitors are looking for cheaper alternatives then you can make more money finding drop shippers for your products on your website.

Can you please explain why Amazon banned your account? Any specific reason? However you can try eBaypartnernetwork or cuelinks.

I could be wrong, but I think regardless of who buys the site or whose Associate account it is, they'll know where the traffic is coming from and it will probably be banned again.

Maybe give it a little time and see is Jet.com has something to offer for you?
VigLink is a solution - but I'm pretty sure I won't get paid, am I? If it was so simple, any person than got banned from Amazon Associates would use VigLink or similar services.
Did anyone tried than after getting banned from Amazon? Is this allowed?

With eBay I will earn 20 times less. What I sold on Amazon does not sell on eBay, and if it does - it costs $20 more. So, no sales will be made.

It is really sad news. They are clamping down a lot more now. Please go over all the rules and make sure you miss zero. Frankly, they believe that you are no longer necessary. Like a boss that wanna fire you. I get from amazon some money. However, it is less every year. They always mess it up. Look at kindle unlimited where people can read your books for free and pay you zero. Oh yes, amazon says you get one half of one penny per page. Good luck with that one.

That sucks to hear. I'm an Amazon Affiliate as well, and stories like this scare the crap out of me. Another possible program to add to the list is Ali Express. While obviously not on the same level as Amazon and Walmart, they're very popular, and offer a wide range of merchandise.

My other advice is that projects die all the time and we're always at the mercy of search engines and the people who pay us. You should already be thinking about what your next project will be. That's what I do... I always have a project I'm working on to be my "next big thing". That's the one thing you can control, is what you're working on and how you're going to bounce back from this.

    Good luck my friend!

Aliexpress won't work for me, and sure I will move forward.

The lesson here is never relay too much on other
services and programs. Within seconds a profitable
website becomes garbage. And there is nothing you
can do about it. You are just one affiliate out of millions.
That would not happen so quickly with a business built
depending on your product, your traffic and your rules.

If you're in the US, you can take them to small claims court for the money they owe you. I've read that they never show up in court for it and the judge awards you the money. I've been doing this since 2005. The only "dumb" thing that I did was earn a lot of money that they now want to keep. Actually the dumb thing was putting so many sites in the same account so that this could happen.

They claim that I'm giving misleading pricing info. The reality is that some of my posts mentioned that Jet.com has the cheapest price and free shipping, which is 100% true. That is the only pricing info in my posts. When I appealed and asked for specifics, they came back with the same thing about misleading prices and the new charge that my in-depth guides offer no value.

And I don't have any health sites. Mostly travel and sports/recreation.

Oh I see. I realize it's too late now but since the prices can fluctuate, I wouldn't ever make claims about them. As far as the second claim, yeah they're covering themselves. They can ban you for any reason to be clear, you agreed to it in the terms.
