How to increase traffic to my Classifieds website?

So honestly, the best way to increase traffic is to LAUNCH your site!

How do you do this?

It's simple (not easy, but simple...)

Build a squeeze page promoting an offer about your niche and give something in return for just subscribing to your list (a free offer!)

Then drive traffic to your squeeze page through solo ads & forum marketing (2 most effective ways in my opinion)

Build your list to a sizable amount and give them valuable content about your niche everyday sometimes every other day.

Once your list is big enough (it will take some time) build a Facebook or Twitter page that they can interact with.

This turns them from just an email list to a community!

Then keep pumping out valuable content which they'll love and keep growing these 2 platforms.

Once you have a strong base of people on both platforms then launch your website and promote it to them!

This will drive an insane amount of traffic to your website on day 1!

Try Facebook video ads, they can get you a lot of views and it's usually about $0.003 per view if not less for indian traffic.

That's just on top of my head..

Or you can start using Pinterest, Reddit, YouTube and other social media sharing sites out there..

Youtube ads can also help you get more traffic cause is cheap. But make sure its targeted to your niche.

Make your website interesting, and make sure it is not another clone.

If you do that, people will like you, share you, use you and write about you, that is how you do it.

There is on good site call Lanyrd.com. It is an event website where you can make announcement of like a
product launch. Use it as if to promote a promotional launch (Be creative how you promote though). It will promote your site for about a month and you need to submit again. Very effective. If your site is keyword rich, it will show in that particular keyword search engine by Google, something like Google +.

Best part, its free.

personally, i think classified sites are too hard to start up and very little money in them when starting them up. let's be honest. they take about 2-3 years to build.

if it was me, i would start a facebook page and list some of your listings on there....some of the better ones that could attract people to your site. promote you fan page with some fb ads. i would also promote your site to the other social networks including reddit which is one site that is under utilized in online marketing. obviously, you will want to make sure google is indexing your site so seo(especially on page in your instance) is a must. i would also consider submitting a press release and hope your local city media picks it up. i don't know how many cities you are targetting, but passing out fliers locally is an option....or posting flyiers in business windows and leaving small fliers on counters.

i really don't know what your competition is. here, it's craigslist. if you have a lot of competition, obviously you will have to set yourself apart from it so think outside the box. why go to your site, when people can go to your competitor? that's a question you should always be thinking about and fix that problem.

if you have some advertising budget than you can go with google adwords to gain some generous traffic.

create a free ebook (you can use PLR premade content) and give it away for free on social-media.

You have some excellent advice here, but the thing to bear in mind is that you should create an incentive for people to come to your site. If you are giving away free memberships for now, try to get some good testimonials from people who have sold, purchased, or otherwise get benefit from your site.

A competition is also a good idea. You can give away Tshirts (by doing a draw fortnightly) so you will only give away one per draw. Create a premium spot on the front page of your site (if possible) and give out rotating banner spots as prizes, etc. There are lots ideas out there. You might have to change your business model. A classified ad site? Is it "niched". How is it different from all the others, what will make people want to come back to your's, and are you doing backend marketing from all of the *customers* that you have gotten? Are you doing email marketing? Do you have the money to hire staff and compete with the "big boys"?

A Launch is a good idea as is ads, I've written a few times about using social media to drive traffic.

You better go for Facebook ads and make a large community over there. Run ad campaign for page like and also boost your important posts. You'll get lots of traffic. Arrange a campaign in Facebook like a selfie contest for Indians only and collect email database for your email marketing campaign.

first take my opinion without any offence, you landed in wrong biz model, indian classified market already dominated by olx and quikr, and believe me its really hard to break there monopoly, however you can try to offer something unique, and for only increasing traffic you can use fb ads and google adwords, but still you need to bring alot of content to your site, you can also scrap ads fom these sites to your to make your site look populated. all the best.

First you should make sure your site works.
The 2 banners can't be clicked.

I think those 2 errors will cause people not to trust the site and maybe go to a competing site.

You can contact advertisers on other classified sites and ask them to post on yours as well.

You'd be surprised as to how many of them drive traffic to their ads.

You might get the 'halo' effect of such promotions.

It won't be much traffic but it can be scaled up over time.

Also, your brand awareness will grow over time

It's also a good idea to put as many social media hooks into your listings.

I will second developing a hard-hitting social media campaign. Facebook ads are inexpensive and can extend your post reach greatly and really start to deliver traffic.
