Is it neccessary to have a fb page, podcast if I want to run a membership site?

Hi all,

I have the intention of creating my own membership site but I want to deliver the content in the old fashion way, through email...

Is it necessary to have a fb group or page or run a podcast to "engage" my subscribers?

I probably only want to use my blog and email marketing to interact with my subscribers.

    fated82,

It's not necessary, but it will increase your exposure a bit. Honestly FB fanpages don't reach the fans like they use to, unless you're continually paying out to "boost" your posts. FB groups actually gets better reach these days.

If you do decide to use Facebook, make sure you read the book - "Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook" by Gary Vaynerchuk. It will teach you the best methods for writing posts that reach your fans.

    Hope than helps.

    Hi fated82,

You want to know more about your subscribers, that's why you will want to go further with your list interaction.

It helps you increase your social activity and also engage your subscribers further than their email inbox.

The key takeaway is to learn new things about your customers. What better place to do that, than on social media sites?
Tell them to follow you on social media sites, like your page, comment on your videos.

Is not a must but it helps spread the word about your niche, get you noticed and make you look like an expert in your market.

Is completely up to you really, the important thing here is generating traffic as need be to your membership site.

You should have a facebook page because it’s one more way to promote your product. Nevertheless, you can maintain correspondence using email only.

You absolutely must have a way to a) Reach your market and b) Get the attention and create interest i you and your products - that's always been the case and continues to be today albeit you have some extra tools to use these days.

What you want to ask yourself is the following:

How can I best reach my target audience?

In other words, where are they and how does that match up with my own ability to communicate with them? For instance, do they hang out on FB? Are they more apt to be on Instagram? Do they listen to podcasts? What about a blog? At the same time, ask yourself if you are better at communicating via writing, audio, video? Go with your strength and put your content in front of your target audience where they are.

The mistake many people make is that they either don't know where their market hangs out, and even when they do find them - what their mindset is when they are visiting your site from search versus see you on YouTube versus see your site on FB or Instagram...

Second mistake is that people start producing content in a form they feel they should (Ex podcast) when it is not their strength. Great podcasters communicate well via podcasting and get a certain amount of enjoyment doing it, Others prefer blogging or video blogging while others are effective running weekly webinars...go with your strength which often maximizes a communication mode that you feel you are good at.

It's not necessary but it will get you more exposure,
If you really want to keep your readers engaged
I would have them subscribe to my list then from
there I would create a blog and tell them to visit.

People are more comfortable with a blog atmosphere
therefore you can get them engaged as well as
pitch a product you want to promote to them.

    All the best!

Me personally i would just do email and a blog. Most people (i believe) check their email first before landing on a particular site/blog. Hopefully your's is something that they will want to come back to. But it's not necessary to have a FB page and podcast. Just focus on having great content and support that your membership site should have. Make them happy, and be yourself.

    Of course not.

That being said, the more value you can provide to your members, the more likely you'll be to get people to sign up, and they'll likely stay signed up longer too.
