After 6 months of studying IM and participating in some paid programs, I have noticed a particular trend. Please note, I am committed to IM and am grateful the help I have received here at WF. Also, I have a postive outlook for IM.

For the most part, however, there seems to be the art of deception. One example is a program I have entered recently.

The program sheepishly tells you that you will need to buy a domain for like $8, and that they really hate to do this, then they after a few days they roll out the software that they say you will most likely need to get the best results. A montly fee exists for this product, after a free trial.

I just feel that I experience some things over and over.

So, a thought I have been having is about the long-term opportunities in IM.

Why do all the instruction programs seem to be going for the quick buck? Are there no long-term opps for these people? Will IM slowly begin to be inaccessible for most people?

At first I trust many of those that offer a program. Then I slowly begin to despise them because the become transparent, and try to sell you on more and more products.

These are just a few thoughts I have had. The questions above may just as well be rhetorical, but if anyone has any comments I would love to hear them.

Thanks.

Maybe I don't understand what your beef really is. Were you hoping someone out there would give you something totally for free that would make you money for the long haul without ever having to pay them for their expertise, products, etc.?

If not, what exactly is your complaint? People are going to want to be paid for their work, and they're going to try to sell it to you. That's life.

    Skyward,
I am fairly new too, and I understand what you are saying. I don't even want to think about how much $$ I have spent in the last 4-6 months, only to decide that some paths weren't right for me. Live and learn, right?

But I can't really complain about the money I've spent, because I have learned a tremendous amount, and found some great "toys" (err, I mean tools) to use in the process.

I currently have about 3 paths that I am working on in IM. And I am able to more fully understand IM concepts partly due to the many WSOs/courses purchased over this time. So, all in all, it wasn't a waste.

As for a great longterm solution, I have recently joined Amy Bass' course and one thing (among many) that I really like about her course (learned about The Niche Blogger from a post here at WF), is the long-term approach. She does have a few add-ons that she recommends (they are very low cost), but they aren't required, they just make your job easier. She also teaches free ways to achieve the same results.

Like John I can't understand the point of this post either.

If you have been studying IM for 6 months you will know that there is no such thing as a free lunch - you should also be well aware that cheap and 'free' programmes are seldom for the long haul - more a method of quickly milking a little cash from gullible sheeple.

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more
Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!

The best thing to do is get free advice from forums and from experimenting on your own. Never found an ebook period that actually delivered what it said it would. Most have the very basic information that you can find for free anywhere. The real secrets that actually do make GOOROOs thousands of dollars, remain secrets ... otherwise they wouldn't be effective any longer. Another GOOROO secret is to let loose of these big money making schemes after they are beat to death and rapidly losing effectiveness.

There are so many ways to make money online and, as you have seen, selling useless information is one of them.

    Find your own path.

I do understand what you are saying. When you are new you are often focusing on "how to make money". That makes you a "prospect" and the goal is to turn you into a "paying customer".

Why? Because those make money products and sites are the BUSINESS of the person who is running them.

You don't make money by buying loads of make money products - that's the reality that takes a while to understand. You make money by building a business of sales or service - with your own plan. Chasing the quick buck keeps you running and gets you nowhere.

Don't confuse "IM" with only being about make money products. Internet marketing is done by every site online that is selling products of any type.
On a marketing forum it's normal to see the focus on "how you make money" and it's logical that those offering that type of "info product" would widely advertise here. Nothing wrong with that - as long as new marketers understand they ARE the target market.

Start dissecting the sales pages you read - instead of being awed by money people say you can earn by buying their product, look at the structure of the page and how it convinces readers to BUY from the marketer.
