I haven't used it yet but the designs look very attractive. I know when I first started out in IM and I was broke, getting an affordable, attractive website was a huge issue.

I also have used Weebly - Create a free website and a free blog and blogspot.com, and I've heard good things about BlinkWeb - Free Internet Marketing Website or Blog!.

WordPress.com » Get a Free Blog Here doesn't work for IM because it is for personal use, not commercial use.

Any other sources out there I've left out, for free website design/hosting?

    Dana, I've used wix with mixed results. You're right that it builds really attractive sites. What it does, it does very well. But it also has a lot of limitations that will drive you crazy if you get further into designing with it.

    The main thing you have to realize is that Wix if Flash. This is completely different to html and you have to take special measures to ensure that your code is otimized for the search engines. Wix developers claim that their sites are SEO-optimized but I'd want to research this essential issue some more rather than take their word for it.

    Having said that, I think Flash is a great technology and I think it's under-utilized in web marketing.

    What I've done is use Wix for an audio-visual presentation rather than for the whole website. Flash works great for this, better than video because it can be interactive.

    I would encourage you to try out Wix but I wouldn't swap an html site for it without a lot of research and advice.

    Good to know! As I said, I haven't tried it yet. And SEO is important - the big downside to a lot of the free sites is that I think it can be very hard to control the SEO the way you would with a custom-designed site.

    However for people who have no money for a website and who are just getting started in IM, they can be an attractive option.
